It is a darker world today. Thank god we still have her in her music

I love how protective everyone gets over Dolly 🤣 "Don't put yourself down, Dolly. You're better than her. Your man don't deserve you!"

I still can’t believe that I’m living in a world without The Great Dolly Parton. RIP Dolly. I hope you can see how much you are loved.

Dolly wrote over 3,000 songs. She won all kinds of awards. She was an American jewel. Love you always Dolly.

A lot of people miss the true meaning of this song. She is telling Jolene flat out that taking her man "as a game" is the worst thing possible to do for both of them. Because it is meaningless to Jolene, and it destroys Dolly's family "for a game" and nothing else.

AND she is doing this BEFORE the husband does anything. He is "thinking" about her, but hasn't done anything yet, which is why Dolly HAD to talk to Jolene. Because it was getting "risky" and needed to be stopped. And if not stopped, that at least be SERIOUS about it, not just breaking up the family because of looks and nothing else.

insecurity is a monster we all face. no matter how pretty, handsome, or successful. And imagine why we can all relate to this song...plus the super rhythm

Dolly wrote “Jolene” and “ I will always love you” on the same day lmao that’s range

@3OverEasy 1 year ago

A whole lotta women in these reactions that flat out DO NOT want to admit that they ALL know a Jolene. 😂😂😂😂

I love the number of folks jumping to Dolly's defense-like best friend's telling her what's what.

@davidayers2640 2 years ago

Without saying a mean word, Dolly kept her husband, outed Jolene and is still outing her 60 years later...to everyone! Slap down with style!

Dolly Parton wrote 'Jolene' and 'I will always love you' in the same day. Cause she's an American Treasure and my spirit animal!!

"On May 6, 2016, Parton announced that she and her husband would renew their vows in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary later in the month."

“Jolene got that WAP” words I’d never thought I would hear😂

Takes a lot of class to write a song like this. It's a celebration of tragedy, love, beauty, insecurity, surrender all at the same time
