Personally I'm delighted that I won't ever need to switch over to avoid X Factor ever again

When the question opened with, "You end every episode with 'see you next Tuesday'..." I thought it was going to go another way...

X Factor went on 5 years too long the first time.

Monty Don became a national treasure, but let's not forget that he replaced another National Treasure. I still miss Geoff Hamilton!

The best thing to come from X-Factor was Rage against the machine getting the Christmas number 1.

Louis as of late is keeping a very low profile and is effectively retired. Actually some celebrity personalities have issues with him regarding his treatment of their careers over the years too. Can’t really see him getting back, plus think very little youthful people would have any interest in it and the X Factor program isn’t an older person’s program.

There is space for a big stakes singing competition on TV for sure, if not now then in couple more years when the format has rested even longer but I think the X Factor brands needs to be of the past like New Faces Stars in their Eyes or Oppurtunity Knocks. And if it really goes in for those big stakes again like X Factor, with the promise of finding a new UK star and giving them a huge contract, then they need to recognise that X factor turned that promise into a farce by being a yearly show. Few winners ever really got that big career, just one album and they were gone. It's need to be like every 3 years with whoever wins actually getting the attention his record label should give an apparent big new star the nation loves.
Let's also not forget how dire novelty acts frequently disturbed the mirage of it being a serious talent show with serious stakes. In the end it was all a mirage; a talent show over-promising on it's ultimate reward to hype up the ratings...I just wouldn't expect people to buy this again unless you are serious about it.
May I suggest a show where everyone drops a recording and instead of people voting they are scored on youtube and spotify views over the week? Well so long as you can find a workaround for bots.
Or reverse this idea, everyone puts themselves up on youtube and those with the highest views end up on the show? Whatever the case I think you need to do it a bit differently.

Oh lord. If a gardening YouTuber takes over gardeners world my father is going to have a fit. Aside from the question of who presents is where to present from, as Monty in addition to being a very good host also had a huge estate from which to display his gardening prowess, which will not be the case for most other people.

Vaguely interesting bit about the release date/time thing: Often for digitally-bought video games there will be a worldwide release, but only releases "at midnight" in the respective territories. So here in North America we'll see posts from Japan and Australia talking about starting the game "the day before", as it were. (And for North America, it's often "at midnight, Pacific time", so us on the east coast it'll only unlock access at 3 am)
And then there's the stories going way back about some games/series releasing on Saturdays to "avoid people taking work/school off if it was released on a usual weekday")

16:50 in and I think Rich just dropped a Reservoir Dogs quote?

Nice!

In Monty's case this decision was made by him but I think it will be a major loss to Gardener's World. The BBC's problem is not just cuts, but they have a much wider issue of deserting their core viewers in search of some non-existent audience and as a result they are losing the very essence of what makes the BBC unique when they try to compete with commercial channels and streaming platforms. They should celebrate their core audience rather than try and change it.

On Gardener's World, Monty doesn't present all the episodes - quite a few are presented mainly by Frances or Adam. Adam has been building his new garden so by next year you'd think he'd be in a good place to take over. Frances is excellent and just needs a permanent base to present from.

I remember when there was a year between the US and UK releases of Disney movies.

The judges were awful as much as the program was

@jbaldwin1970 13 days ago

Mind you if I get this on Tuesday in the UK but Keisha gets it on Wednesday in Australia, that’s a day later than us because Wednesday comes after Tuesday… so technically Australia is a day behind us. You can’t argue with that logic…
