Things are getting spooky around the Dish table this week...
Actor, writer, comedian and seasonal lover, Reece Shearsmith joins us ahead of the release of his new book, Things I Took From The Dark: The Museum of Me. Drawing on a lifelong love of horror, it explores the curious collection of objects he's gathered over the years, and the stories, memories and obsessions attached to them.
As someone who loves marking the seasons and making an occasion of them, Reece is right at home at the Dish table. Inspired by one of his and his wife's New Year's Eve traditions, Angela prepares Martha Collison's recipe for ‘the best salmon en croûte,’ swapping her’s and Nick’s salmon for trout. It’s served alongside a lamb's lettuce, shaved radish and spring onion salad with mustard vinaigrette. To drink, the Waitrose wine experts pair it with a bottle of Waitrose No.1 Chablis 2024 from Burgundy.
Halloween may still be a few weeks away, but horror has been part of Reece's world for as long as he can remember. From childhood ghost stories to the rather unconventional way he met his wife, he shares some of the strange and spooky moments that have shaped his life. Along the way, we delve into his love of cooking and revisit his Celebrity Bake Off triumph, including the pumpkin traybake that earned him a Hollywood Handshake, before getting a rare glimpse inside the mysterious Gossip Club with Bob Mortimer and Matt Berry.
