Christian parents: My children were wrong to distance themselves from me just because I'm an overbearing christian parent who demands that my children obey me for eternity. Also christian parents: I righteously kicked out my child for being gay despite them needing me during a vulnerable time of their life.
"You owe them for the love they gave you." So she's just out here fully admitting that her love for her children is conditional. Can't imagine why her kids don't want to talk to her.
She’d always show me old photos of herself in her teens and early 20s where she was thin. She always would say “god I was so beautiful back then… and then I had KIDS” and would look me in the eyes like I did something wrong.
And she wonders why I told her not to be at my wedding this year.
"We chose to have A child, not you specifically." "My biggest regret is listening to my children." I'm 99% sure this lady has the goal of getting herself and others even more estranged than they already are.
Estranged parents are so fun to watch because they can't help but show the internet exactly WHY their kids can't stand them. It's almost always immediate.
Like I barely know you and even I don't want to be around you, I can't imagine how your kids must feel.
Fun fact: one of the reasons that the Doormat Mom’s daughter isn’t interested in speaking to her again is that after going no contact with her, she wrote a book that was basically a smear campaign against her daughter and officially published it on the day of her daughter’s wedding.
I have two tales of estrangement, both very different from each other. My father was a horrible monster of a man. He was Irish catholic, and that came with heaps of different kinds of abuse to his 5 children... I have no reason to believe he will ever change. My mother spent most of my young childhood yelling at her 3 oldest kids when we did not behave. Well, when I came out as trans, my parents had some very strong and "christian" responses to it... long story short I cut them off, moved around the country, and I decided to get back in touch with my mom randomly (my gramma who is amazing and is super cool with lgbt people of all stripes) said my mom had been working hard "to be deserving enough to be in my life again" in the 4 years I did not talk to her, she went to therapy, broke up with my abusive father, and even voted for biden over trump. She became a different person because of how much having me in her life meant to her. Fast forward to today and we still talk regularly, and have a great rapport. I may never fully forgive her for the pain she put me and my siblings through, but at least we can talk about it rationally. I see none of this remorse or empathy from the parents in this video. My father, on the other hand, has slipped back into alcoholism (as if he ever left) and has been wasting away ever since. I hope he never has the audacity to try and contact me again. Great video, as always!
The one where she was like "You're alive therefore your parent was a good parent" pissed me off so bad. I and so many other estranged children are alive in spite of our parents and because we went no contact.
My response to the first video about "how would you explain to God why you estranged from your parents," would be to ask him in response "why did you do nothing while you watched my parents abuse me and I prayed for it to stop?"
