Ahhhh too scary!!

There’s second and third story where twilight accepts the time loop as her new life, it’s kinda bittersweet. With the third being from spike’s  and everyone else’s narrative on how weird twilight is behaving

What i like about this au is that twilight genuinely does research while also spending time with her friends despite knowing what's going to happen every second it really makes it more impactful when she gives up only to wake up again and again

It's devastating how it might be implied that she keeps on killing herself when the entries just turn to "I woke up" every day..

until, she eventually stopped writing in the journal as it might not seem necessary anymore

The fact that the diary exists and is readable implies that in someway it escaped the loop (assuming in universe we aren’t also in the loop and just found the book). Perhaps there is hope for twilight yet.

Did you know there’s a cut section of this story that kinda explains how people found sparkle journal and how the timeloop broke it was Sparkle experiment with fluttershy animals by putting one out of the time stream and then next loop that animal no longer exists so we might have found a direct way how the loops ended twilight erased herself from existence

I remember hearing this being read for the first time and feeling like it was a metaphor for depression and suicidal ideation. Trying to live and deal with depression is always taxing and overtime it can be downright unbearable. Hearing twilight talk about how her own friends were driving her insane hit home because you can’t ever truly convey what depression feels like to others most of the time, and usually attempts to help even from loved ones do very little in ways of any actual affective action or relief. Everyone is always “here to help” or “here to listen” until the thoughts you’re thinking and the things you’re feeling are too gross or depressing for them or they just can’t wrap their head around why.

In this situation, the best bet you can ever have to escaping the loop is Discord. But i don't know how that's gonna work.

The concept of a time loop in a magic world happening to a character who’s so intelligent and loves experiments is very interesting

I love Diary of a Time-Looper so much, I adore the narration done for it here in youtube. Time loops are a punishment worse than death, usually stories want to break it, that's usually the key to it all. But having no answers at all? Same day, every day, exacty the same, only 24 hours to try and change something... A nightmare. And this grimdark fic portrays it very well

wait dont the end last 10 entries imply that twilight has started a loop of self deletion? like, wake up, commit- then wake up again, leading to the 'i woke up' repetition

I think the scariest idea for this is a soma situation, where each day  is a seperate reality, and at the end of each loop, her consciousness splits and that reality continues on, so theres one where pinkie dies and twilight has to deal with the consequences of that,

but the twilight we're following is the only twilight who will forever be stuck in the loop and her consciousness will forever be separated, which is so horrifying

A lot of this is lack of context FOR the loop that makes it scary. It's why the Infinite Loops, a kind of multiauthor project involving dozens/hundreds of not only individual stories, but franchises, can get away with being mostly comedic at times, with them having fun with the concept, since most Loopers learn about what's going on early, and thanks to Twilight herself, many have a presentation(with slides and everything) stored away to explain it to new ones they meet.

I saw the thumbnail and IMMEDIATELY know the fic, even though I only ever listened to it once or twice on the lost narrator’s channel. This stuck in my head, the book looked like it had aged thousands of years but it wasn’t that old at all technically, and as a kid the idea of the sweet gestures of my friends becoming something that inspires rage in me terrified me as a kid, incredible psychological horror.

I wonder if Discord would have noticed time looping.

I have a theory. If the time loop is some sort of mental health analogy for depression or anxiety, then the only way for Twilight to escape the loop is for her to radically accept her present situation and for her to let go of trying to control both the inaccessible past and unknowable future (as well as her belief in its possibility), because doing so ensures that her present reality will only keep folding in on itself and making every single day the same for her. The tragedy here is that Twilight (as a canon character) is madly obsessed with ideas of control through stuff like excessive scheduling, organisation and punctuality because she deeply fears the unknown and the uncertain. It's also kinda ironic that when the unknown and uncertain are finally taken away from her by having every day be the same, she doesn't find any relief as she now realises it also takes away any possibility for novelty and progress in her day-to-day life. She however defaults back to her old ways, the very same methods she used to rid herself of uncomfortable feelings of uncertainty, except now ironically to find a way to escape the very predictable situation she's stuck in, which I believe only prolongs the time loop and which starts eroding away her sanity. The more she tries to control her future, the less control she has over her present meaning the further she actually is from "controlling" the future herself. Her obsession with control, means her other traits (friendliness, kindness, etc) atrophy as she tries harder and harder with her experiments to find a way out of the loop, but each failed experiment only causes her to slowly show the consequences of neglecting them. The guilt of killing Pinkie Pie in one of her days, despite every day being reset, makes her situation even worse as she wishes now to change (i.e. control) a past that technically never happened (and if it did, can never be changed) on top of trying to control a future she can't actually predict with total certainty. In the end, Twilight despairs because believing that your doomed forever is more comfortable to her than her accepting the brutal reality that she will never know how long this loop will last (or if it will ever end) nor the fact that she has zero control over it. At least she knows that by despairing and giving up, she will never leave the time loop and it thus "comforts" her like a warm blanket (if it were made of sharp thorns) to at least have that in her control when nothing else is. If I want to be hopeful, she may have figured all of this out and escaped the loop, transforming into someone who embraces the present and now accepts uncertainty. But if not, she's basically in a Hell that she is both the prisoner and warden of.

(Can't believe I wrote a whole English class essay on an MLP fanfic).

My theory is that twilight is jumping in between her other selves bodies to think like a time loop, but her real body is in her world but her mind is not.  in the second story of this we see the others perspectives of when she has done the "time loop" and...its sad because they don't know why twilight is doing what she is doing because of the loops

I do have some sort of an idea on how this timeloop could POTENTIALY end

It's how Twilight fixed problems before: the power of friendship

Twilight is known to kinda forget about that sometimes until the end of the conflict where she and her friends use the power to save the day...Could be just as simple and as cheesy as that?

The timeloop makes it difficult to get her friends to help her, but it could be possible!

Not nearly to the same exsitental horror as Diary of a Time Looper, but a trilogy series I remember reading a few years back had a similar idea of being stuck in a time loop. Specifically it was Hard Reset and one of the sequels, A Stitch in Time (both by user Eakin), where Twilight gets caught in a time loop a few hours before changelings attack the city. Eventually, after countless cycles, she manages to get out, but becomes so anxiety riddled by making even the simpliest of choices she slowly needs to build herself back up.
Then needing to go back INTO the timeloop to fix something before it destroys the universe, great stuff.

I do like to think this is a metaphor for guilt. Think about it-in one loop, she kills Pinkie. Oddly specific killing the one who can see beyond the Fourth wall right? Well what if that is to be a metaphor. Scenario is that one day pinkie pushed too far and Twilight killed her. Unable to deal with the guilt, Twilight's mind makes her believe she's in a time loop
