It's strange finding out about cuteg0re as it's kind of giving an in-between for traumacore (similar collage/edit style with cute and dark themes, but mostly used for those struggling with mental illness to express their emotions and trauma) and yami kawaii (from my understanding, already a cute/dark aesthetic). Kind of makes me wonder if people saw traumacore edits and wanted to use it as a proper aesthetic since traumacore is a much more delicate and sensitive topic

I feel like this video could definitely deserve a part 2 👀

Biomechanical Horror Finally getting recognition.

casey i faked a family emergency to watch this video.

Old 90s 3D pre rendered graphics are one of my favorite vibes. I call it creepy, nostalgic, and liminal.

Biochemical horror is on top

"Horrifyingly beautiful" is a pretty apt way to describe MyCaseyValentine ong

god tier video, my friend randomly decided to explore the aesthetic wiki at some point and i think you've highlighted such good niche ones to cover. cutegore feeling like people trying to embrace the cute/dark overlap that may have originated or inspired traumacore, the liminal space energy of the utopian museum one (truthfully that eyewitness intro i remember being a fever dream ngl), and being a primarily west coast urban person who's never traveled farther east than nevada hearing about the regional gothics and your experiences with them moving between the midwest and southwest...

gosh, i said it in my other comment but would LOVE an eventual part 2 to this, there's so much you could talk about after seeing one of my friends explore the full extent of the aesthetic wiki and it is a LOT

I can't believe u glossed over level 974 of the backrooms, kitty's house while discussing cutegore

As someone who grew up in rural Alabama, andd I mean really rural,  you hit it spot on about Southern Gothic

7:24 theres also an art book called postapoland by bartosz zaskorski that very much embodies the essence of biomechanical horror

i was keeping my pinterest acc (where its full of cuteg0re, traumacore, dreamcore pins) private because i didnt want to look edgy yk.. But its so nice to see people enjoy such aesthetics and feel a similar relief as me♡
Im not sure what exactly  is relieving abt the aesthetics but i find them so

One of my favorite examples of Utopian/Dystopian Scholastic are the I Spy books. Walter Wick is the photographer behind most-if not all- of the books in the series. The photos are very surreal and liminal while also having an oddly educational feel. My favorite from childhood is the Haunted Mansion one which served as one of my foundational pillars for my love of goth and horror-related media and aesthetics.

Would Doki Doki Literature Club be considered cutegore?

skipped school to watch this casey

8:41 I remember I was so scared of the skeleton one to the point I asked my mom to turn it off

Errie Indiana mentioned!!! Ps i really loved your take on these aesthetics they feel more close to home instead of that commercialized mainstream feeling most popular aesthetics have turned into.

One of my fave films as a kid was ‘9’. Idk if it’s considered biomechanical horror or what but I still love the dystopian aesthetic to this day

14:16 As someone who has lived in the Deep South for his entire life, I feel that the negative aspects of here are blown out of proportion and are really just small things in relation to everything else. I’m not gonna say it isn’t there, but there are definitely worse things here. With all the bad are bad people, but there’s a treasure trove of people that are kind and willing to help others.

I think cutegore became very popular when monster high came out. Also the image with the shadow girls in the pink bedroom seems more like weirdcore than cutegore to me. This video was peak, we NEED a part 2.

If you like the idea of uncanny museums, I feel like The Museum Of Anything Goes is another important game to point out (Vinesauce did a pretty famous playthrough of it on YouTube). I find it disturbing in the unpredictability of every element you click on in the game, and there's also moments of pure silence broken by curious noises and happenings
