Let’s be real...

This video in a Nutshell was just a Rant on the N.Sane Trilogy

I really wish Ape Escape got some love next in terms of PS platformers.

7:18 Well yeah Tom Kenny aged by like 20 years and has not played the character since 2004 compared to something like Spongebob , of course he would sound different

I'd like to see your thoughts on The Wrath of Cortex vs. Enter the Dragonfly, and Twinsanity vs. A Hero's Tail.

I don't even get a notification that this video was up

I'm no music expert myself, but I believe the differentiation between the music in the two Crash trilogies that you're looking to quantify would be 'syncopation'.
Crash Bandicoot is, in a word, off-beat. everything from the tone to the visuals to the gameplay is like other platformers you've seen before, but just... a little weirder. In terms of the music, this is taken very literally; the various instruments are on really staccato rhythms: very punchy individual tones with moments of silence breaking them up into very distinct tones, and the bass tones are often being played in an alternating rhythm to the treble ones (syncopated), making you get this really bouncy up-down-up-down-up-down feel to the music, like it's vibrating in place, overloading with energy, unable to sit still.
While the actual notes played in the N.Sane trilogy are technically exactly the same, they way higher fidelity and level of polish means there's a lot more layers to the music, and some of the secondary instruments have more reverb, which causes them to almost bridge those high and low notes into a more continuous melody, much less of the staccato rhythm, which weakens the 'punch' of those syncopated beats being so neatly separated from one another.

Again, not a music expert, I don't actually know for sure if that's the culprit, that's just how it seemed after giving it a quick listen myself.

I played megaman legends last year. The charm still holds up. Controls didnt.  All it needs is a jreview review.

I love Crash Bandicoot series, and Spyro the Dragon series.
And especially Jak and Daxter series, Ratchet & Clank series, and Sly Cooper series. Because all five of them are my favorite childhood PlayStation video game franchises that I really grew up with. 🙂

I have to disagree, both the N Sane Trilogy and Reignited Trilogy are fantastic remakes. They both get a 9 from me. I would argue they are the best remakes ever made.

I actually felt the opposite way when it came to N Sane vs the originals on controls. I've played Crash 2 and Warped as originals and loved them. But there were so many times that I thought I jumped on a box correctly or better yet, thought I spun an enemy in time only to hear "Whoa" and have to try again. In the remake I personally felt like I understood Crash's movements more and he would generally always do what I tried to do. I can actually stand a better chance in time trial because this control scheme gave me more confidence in the movements and let me take some extra risks to save time. I never felt that confident with the originals, but that's just me I guess.

The wumpa fruit dissapears before reaching the counter, broken unplayable mess

Idk N sane trilogy was pretty fun for me

However I dont have anything against you criticising it, tbh if there ever was a remaster of skylanders spyros adventure i would be very critical of it

that B-Mask clip is so good

Love these videos

I only played N Sane Trilogy. I played all three games, only a few weeks ago, and I felt some control and physics things felt incredibly off. I did try out the original Crash 2 and 3, though, long ago, and I felt the controls were near-perfect.

Okay, I stand corrected on the Sonic Adventure review being next, but I still eagerly wait to hear your opinions on the Sonic Adventure games, two of my favorite video games of all time.

As for this video, playing through Crash 2 on the N. Sane Trilogy has been a wonderful experience. The PS1 version was already my favorite of the original Crash trilogy, so seeing it in HD is evoking a sense of nostalgia that I've only felt when I started replaying Pokemon Silver on my 3DS. As for Crash 1 and Crash 3, I haven't gotten to those games yet since I want to finish Crash 2 first.

I'm with you when it comes to playing both the original and the N. Snae (that was intentional) trilogy. I replayed the original Crash trilogy recently and found that they still hold up remarkably well. Plus, they have a certain charm to them that ended up lost in translation in the N. Sane Trilogy. The remakes are still good, and I even got the Platinum Trophy for each game, but I still find myself going back to the originals.

That's the thing with remakes: you can recreate a game's world from scratch and add more details than ever before, but something is going to be lost along the way. I like the Shadow of the Colossus remake on PS4, and I loved the addition of Photo Mode. However, the updated graphics and lack of bloom lighting don't match the level of artistry when the original PS2 game tried to push the system to its limits.

I've been seeing people ask for remakes of games like The Legend of Dragoon, Sly Cooper, or Jak and Daxter. I think the games have aged well that I'd rather see them ported/re-released in collections on future consoles (so long as they don't have technical issues like the Ratchet collection on PS3). It's a way for newer players to access these games and have a feel for the history behind them. Look at the Castlevania collection that came out last year. Yes, many of these games are a bit clunky and also difficult, but that's part of the charm of the early games and they're designed with these mechanics in mind. They're accessible if any newer players are curious.

That's my two cents, anyway.

I'm so glad you gave B-Mask some spotlight!

this has to be the only neutral/negative review of these remakes ive seen that wasnt immediately ignorable like the "dark souls" comparing ones.

I don’t really understand why you said the cussing animation was a bad thing when I think this is how they would probably look if they had that held well because crash was always supposed to be a cartoony character. He was based on Looney Tunes so going all the way with it I think it looks great.
