Ayup! I'm back with my Dad! It's been a while.
We are back in Leicestershire to complete our explore of the Great Northern & London & North Western Joint Railway.
In our first walk we went from Leicester Belgrave Road to Melton North, and this time we starting in Melton and heading east to Bottesford Junction.

I personally live right next to where the LNWR GNR joint ran through Melton Mowbray.
What many don’t know, is that when Melton North railway station was dismantled, it was scattered all about what is now the country park.
There is a segment of what was once the railway cutting near the lake, where many bricks, pipes, sleepers etc from the late station were tossed and left to rot for many years. Additionally, a brilliant signal cable holder is still standing in its original state right next to the footpath. There are also bricks from the station littered about in the paths throughout the park as well. Very interesting to see.
The main traffic of the line was Iron Ore.
A branch line went up to Waltham Quarries on the Eaton Branch.
This went off at Scaldwell. This branch was operated by The GNR.
The Midland Railway had a branch that went up and over Long Claughton and Hose Tunnel. The Midland branch had a link from the Old Dalby line.
At Harby and Stathern there were sidings beyond the station and a rope operated incline from the quarries at Eaton.
So much to see all now gone.
