Club Penguin Archives is a site dedicated to preserving the memory of Club Penguin through its files. Since December 12, 2010, it has grown to become the largest public Club Penguin file database on the internet.
As someone who still has their yahoo email since 2001, the geocities one hurts the most. I had poetry on their from my high school and college days. There was also a massive fanart site called "Helena's Chateau" I visited, Helena being the character from Dead or Alive so most the art was DoA characters. it was DeviantArt well before DeviantArt existed. Geocities was an easy way to learn website development and coding. It really held your hand, even better than site makers like GoDaddy did.
When you put your files onto a site that you don’t own, you don’t own them. Invest in external storage. Keep your own things if you care about them, and update them about every 10 years so you don’t have files that no system can read anymore.
A few items in this list are just silliness and passing fades. But the issue of war footage is a real one. There is great value in honest reporting of terrible things but dominant tech platforms make it impossible because they can't be bothered. This is a real problem for our society
