Star Strike

The MLP fandom has seen many divisive moments in it's time, but this is by far the worst one yet. My Little Pony Generation 5 and Make Your Mark have brought about a lot of Toxicity from G5 critics, and defenders.

Ironically a franchise about friendship and resolving conflicts has an ongoing issue like this happening. Maybe some of these people should take G4 and G5's advice.

I'll admit it: I was very uncivil about The Legend of Korra. I was very loud about my opinions, and even went out of my way to attack the characters at every opportunity, and strongly disliked that anyone who likes it and thought they were wrong.

I am pleased to say I have grown out of this awful behavior, but it makes me sad that other people haven't

This is the problem with the mlp fandom they like the show but they don’t learn from the show it’s such a common thing that there’s literally an episode of mlp talking about said problems so let’s hope the uncivil side of the fandom can learn to keep there opinions to themselves instead of forcing them onto other’s.

G4 was simply TOO big. Even if G5 was perfect, G5 could not have possibly live up to such a monumental impact G4 had.

Also, they’re both children’s cartoons. Good or not, Imagine sending death threats over children’s media 😂

The 4 NO'S of what not to never speak about

I once got a hate comment on my channel and the person got mad I decided to have a conversation with them rather than block them. They said I clearly couldn't take criticism because I tried to explain my video instead of just blocking the comment. It's amazing how much these kinds of people just want drama and how mad they get when they don't get it

Of course, this happens in every fandom. But I do think it’s a particularly prevalent problem for G5.

It’s fascinating and a bit absurd, that a show about friendship, like My Little Pony, can have such division within its fandom. Some fans become so toxic toward others that they drive people away from the community entirely. This video highlights the issue well, showing how some fans take the show so seriously that it stops being about ponies and becomes a competition over which generation is "the best." The behavior, especially on Reddit and Twitter, is often ridiculous. Instead of respecting others' preferences, like those who enjoy G5 or those who doesn't like G5, many resort to trash-talking. It's all so unnecessarily silly lol everyone is so silly

I love when the fandom of the show about harmony, friendship and peace start causing disharmony, hatred and chaos

@PurifiedCheese 1 year ago

Personally I don’t like G5. It had a good concept, the execution was just HORRIBLE but I would never argue/make death threats to anyone who would like it and if you like the new generation, more power to you random person reading this!

Just sounds like the toxic people from Twitter spreading to other places and fandoms like a virus to me.

With the power of friendship, they'll start a conflict

Bro why did I got an add that features Anime Girls on warehouse shooting at each other on when you said: “This is no excuse for this behavior”
😂😂😂😂

It is very frustrating to see this discourse happening in the fandom. I liked g5 just enough to watch the entire thing, I didn't like how it ended up but the characters still wormed their way into my heart. I want to be able to criticize the show and pointing out what went wrong without being labelled a g5 hater, when that is just flat out not the case with me. My "hate" for the show is due to it not living up to what it could have been, had Hasbro invested a bit more time and money into this, not some hate for the characters or general story

@novaarcanum0060 1 year ago

your choices for G5 screengrabs are absolute GOLD! XD

Still remember the moment that I announced and uploaded my personal G5 appreciation video (specifically Tell Your Tale), and some of the first few comments I've gotten were folks bein rude or takin out their G5 hate. I'm glad that it's gotten positive support and civility from both G5 fans and critics despite that, but it wasn't fun at all to get those after working on it for a long time. Good on you for talking about this annoying yet prevalent issue.

I'd like to say that I like both...

both g4 and g5 have had their ups and downs.

I have managed to spot a few issues with some of your other videos but this could be due to a genuine mistake or misunderstanding. I won't be saying which ones as:
a. there's only a small amount of them.
b. the less fuel to the fire the better.

That being said I couldn't find a single mistake in this video. I used to have similar opinions to what you said was bad(I was very young at that time and it was way before g5)

I hope that this all dies down eventually...

Lastly I'd like to say thank you for being able to put what I was thinking into actual words.
