Pips in a payphone when your money is running out you have like 10 sec before it cuts out 😂😂

Peter kay car share is brilliant if you like Peter kay. It's probably a good snapshot of British culture. It's only 12 episodes I think about 30 minutes long. Perfect for this channel.

I don't think anyone does nostalgic observational comedy like Peter Kay. Brilliant. ❤

That's one thing I've noticed about the phones evolution. It used to be a private thing, you'd take the call, and if anyone walked past, you'd hush until they were out of earshot.

Now, every plum has a phone, and they have full on loud obnoxious conversations in public.

The pips was when you were using a public phone box ("phone booth") and your money was about to run out, It would beep repeatedly, which informed you either finish quickly or put in more coins. No-one under about 40 will have any idea what this means.

We still have some of the classic red telephone boxes in villages, some are used to hold defibrillators, some are full of old books

The pips are the noise you hear when your cash is running out on the payphone

I love that usually Peters mum and his Nan are in the audience laughing and feeling embarrassed.

The good thing about the home phone is, you always knew where it was and it wasn't going to break if you sat on it.

i turn my phone off for days at a time now, and leave it at home when i go out. its very liberating.

@baronmeduse 1 year ago

The thing about stuff in the past, having to be surreptitious on the phone because people in the house can hear you; failing to find a phone box and getting soaked in the rain etc. We remember them because they were at least memorable. How much can you remember of your last boring smartphone call?

When I was 11 years old I was on the phone with my friend. He did not hang up properly. After desperately shouting down the phone, my mum made me ride all the way to his house on my bike to knock on the door to tell him they hadn't hung up the phone properly.😂😂😂

When you said you used to fall asleep on the phone reminds me of when my wife and I were long-distance dating. She’s American, lived in Idaho and I was living in London. We’d talk on the phone for hours at about 3am my time, and sometimes I’d fall asleep mid-conversation 😅 My wife is with me in the UK now, thankfully. Our phone conversations are never more than a few seconds now haha 😂

A modern scenario is if you have children of an age that have mobile (cell) phones and you phone them and they don’t answer. Later you see them and say you tried to phone them and they say, oh my phone was in another room. You KNOW they’re lying because their phone is NEVER more than an arms length from them!

Another fun reaction when Peter was talking about the pips he was referring to the old pay phones the pips used to let you know the money was running out so you could either put more money in or say goodbye.

As someone else said in the comments , please do Peter Kay Car Share , you will love it , you've already seen the monkey clip from 1 episode. It's a mixture of light drama and comedy , I guarantee it will be right up your street !!
