It really goes to show just how little interest the US has in the rest of the world unless they want something.

In Europe, there were not only attacks in London, but also in Madrid (11 March 2004 - trains), Paris (13 November 2015 -  Football station, restaurants & concert venue), Brussels (22 March 2016 -Airport & Underground) and so many others. So sad.

Everyone’s slandering Americans here but as a British person I think it’s really cool how much this guy cares and is genuinely trying to widen his outlook on the world.

As someone who worked for London Underground at the time, it irked me that staff were not given their due. They ran down the track to the exploded trains before the emergency services got there, with no idea what had happened. We weren't trained in this sort of thing but they ran into danger anyway.

As a Canadian, I'm constantly shocked by how little most people in the US know about the world around them.

I had an American friend say “ Thinking of you today” and I said “ thanks” but was hit by a paranoia that I’d forgotten about a relative’s passing or something… it was 7/7. We were sad, appalled and outraged at the time, but next day folks used the same busses and tubes to go to work. In the British mind, if you harp on and howl with despair and partake in demonstrative grief from the rooftops, the enemy wins.

My favourite WWII Story is a young German pilot, who was shot down and captured was in the back of a police van. He looked out the window on his way through London and saw a bowler hatted man, umbrella  over his arm, times under it, and whistling on his way to work, clambering over rubble from the last nights bombing. He said “ when I saw this, I knew we had lost the war”

There's a famous photo from the Blitz, with a shop practically blown apart, where the owner had put up a sign reading "A little more Open than usual."

An American asked what the British would be doing  on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the US to honour the victims.  The answer came in the form of another question, what are the Americans going to be doing on the anniversary of 7/7.  The American had no idea what it was.  When it was explained to them, they then asked another question, why would the Americans be doing anything,  it wasn't anything to do with them?  Just this little conversation highlights the insular, arrogant and self centred ability of Americans to embarrass themselves on an international stage. American defaultism at its finest.

"BASTARDS!" was literally a newspaper headline right after.

One group of brave people never got the recognition they deserved. I was stuck in my car for over 2 hours just outside a major bus depot. I watched buses drive in, unload passengers  and then be driven out again. Those bus drivers must have known that one their own buses had been blown up but they still went back out to help people caught up in this attack.

My cousin Ciaran was killed on 7/7. We will never forgot that day or the agonising wait for confirmation it was him. I don’t know how my aunt found the strength to carry on. So many lives ruined.

Brit here, i lived in the states for 10 years . Based on my experience the ignorance about the rest of the world is ridiculous. I’m not saying every American is like this, there are some intelligent people. But the I have lost count how many times Americans asked me how do brits celebrate 4th of July, thanksgiving or what they do on 9/11. And Americans always seem stunned that we have our own holidays and version of 9/11 instead of celebrating theirs. I think the height of ignorance was when I had someone ask me who Queen Elizabeth 2 was, or tell me Americans colonised England. And very few Americans care about wanting to learn about the rest of the world. Good on Tyler for wanting to educate himself and learn.

Is always shocks me when Americans always presume that things only happen in their country…..”I didn’t think anything like this happened in the UK”…..well why wouldn’t it? It wasn’t really that long ago the Ariana grande concert was bombed, Paris attack wasn’t that long ago, Xmas markets in Germany had a lunatic driving though only a few months ago. Why does America think it’s just them?

There was also a disgusting attack on London bridge and Borough market on the 3rd of June 2017

I'm not surprised most Americans have never heard of  7/7, even YouTube inserts an article on 9/11 instead of the actual event you're talking about 🙄

Remember Tyler, that we fight everyone you fight, but they probably don't tell you that either.

I moved out of London and into the country-side about 14 months after this. Truly terrifying times. My wife worked in Tavistock Square, I worked at various offices around Central and SE London. The shooting of Jean Charles da Silva 2 weeks later at the tube station I used daily was the second prompt to get out of London into 'Greater London'. A little over a year and we were 100s of miles away. I miss London, but somehow it all changed for me on 7/7. RIP all those that lost their lives that day, thank you to all those that put themselves at risk to help and comfort the dying and the injured. To those that survived, my heart goes out to you and what you have been through.

Sadly whilst many people from the US expect the rest of the world to mourn those of 9/1, I have until now not heard any USasian mention 7/7. I find that sadly to be expected.

I worked on the tour buses in London and was at work that day.

The bus that blew up had one of our tour buses behind it and it traumatized the driver of that tour bus. He ended up taking work somewhere outside London.

I was in Trafalgar square doing a tour and we were told to ask everyone to get off the bus so that the driver and I could check in with our respective offices and our families could be informed that we were ok.

One of our other tour guides was on one of the trains that was bombed, and although she wasn't seriously hurt, she was traumatized and also stopped working in London.

What impressed me most was that 95% of people were straight back to work the next day, including myself. We weren't going to let the bastards win!

Tyler,,,,, a vast amount of money for the I.R.A. Was raised from Irish Americans especially during St.Patrick’s day celebrations etc.
Most of Europe has been the unfortunate recipients of terrible terrorist atrocities way before & after 9/11
