Here’s my spoiler-free Out Of Theater Reaction and review for DreamWorks Animation’s The Forgotten Island, starring H.E.R., Liza Soberano, Dave Franco and Lea Salonga. I went in knowing very little and had an absolute blast—this movie made me laugh, made me cry more than once and left me emotionally exhausted in the best, most cathartic way. Directors Joel Crawford and Januel P. Mercado deliver a visually stunning adventure rooted in Filipino culture, mythology and folklore, with animation that blends comic-book imagery, anime influences and traditional Filipino art. H.E.R. and Liza Soberano bring so much heart to Jo and Raissa’s friendship, while Dave Franco nearly steals the movie as Raww. It’s funny, weird, heartfelt, surprisingly intense and packed with meaningful ideas about friendship, memory, change and the stories we carry with us. This is a true feast for the senses and one of DreamWorks’ most imaginative original movies in years. #ForgottenIsland #DreamWorks #HER #LizaSoberano #FilipinoCulture #MovieReview

I JUST got out of the theater as well for this film and MAAAN! GO SEE IT! It’s worth seeing in a theater. Seriously😮‍💨🙌🏾

The humor takes some getting used to, but the emotional scenes and incredible animation definitely make it a fantastic watch. And I'm glad the Philippines have a movie with their folklore doing so well making the wider public aware of it.

This movie was so much fun I enjoyed it!

I saw it today in 4DX. The animation was amazing and the overall movie was a 10/10 for me. I wasn’t expecting to love it so much. Definitely a pleasant surprise. I didn’t even recognize H.E.R.’s voice. Didn’t realize it was her until the credits….which was also cute. I plan on watching it again.

Forgotten Island deserves a wider promotion!!!! It deserves more dollars. It's that GOOD.

Man this movie needs more marketing. Id hate to see a masterpiece like this just go to waste because of poor ticket sales.

Are you planning to see FORGOTTEN ISLAND in theaters—and what has you most excited: the Filipino folklore, the unique animation, or the story about lifelong friendship?

Guys please watch FORGOTTEN ISLAND it is undoubtedly one of the best films of the year. It has so much heart and joy and explosions of colours not to mention the incredible animations!! We gotta support this film or else we won't see animated movies with original stories much anymore

I, too am of Filipino heritage. But born and raised in the states. I must say Forgotten Island is a love letter to the Philippines and its people. My family sure enjoyed it. They found it to be relatable to us! But when you put aside the culture and customs, its story is deep.

The Mananggal was the best thing; it should have had more screen time, because it was menacing. But I guess they were afraid it would be too scary for kids.

@ZeroSeriesMMX 9 days ago

All that, but I wasn't able to watch it yesterday, since all the showing in my local theaters out here in the PH have sold out (also, the Endgame Encore showings have sold out too)... Maybe I'll try again next week, for I need to fix my sleep schedule. 😂

TBH, I want to see how the mythical creatures animated... but with the trailer's premise, I just turned into a guy who missed his high school best friend.

The movie is tailor-made for Filipinos, but the central theme and core message of the movie is totally relatable to anyone. I love the art direction and animation the most. Soundtrack is a banger! The story is cute, funny, predictable, yet still fun. It definitely has a lot of heart, and that is what sells the entire movie.
