Props to Stephen Spielberg for helping Filipinos in Hollywood to tell their stories.  Spielberg was executive producer of Jo Koy's movie Easter Sunday and now the company he founded in Dreamworks made Forgotten Island.

I appreciate you actually going through the marketing and the numbers reported regarding this film.

For me, this movie has some stiff competition when it came out since the Marvel Endgame rerelease and the Resident Evil adapation were released the same time. Some people have expressed wanting to watch Forgotten Island but, with how many have expressed having only a few funds to spare, they only could watch what was familiar.

As someone who's watched this movie, this movie is UNDOUBTEDLY GOOD. There's still a push to make give this film more recognition in terms of revenue, but, I am still proud of what this film has been set out to do: to showcase a story inspried by Filipino experiences for Filipino and inspire others.

Every movie nowadays are not making what is expected, simply because people have lost there disposable income. The economy is really to blame.

and don't forget the potential unique contribution of the Filipino diaspora, who will look for and appreciate the Filipino cultural references and jokes, enough to compel them to watch it more than once to rediscover these Easter Eggs. Thanks for your detailed presentation, with the key metrics that matter most for sustained success.

Yes yes tayo na let us watch Forgotten Island!

I still have to wait until October 15th before we could see the movie here (I'm in the UAE).

I think King Truffle Waffle, Bungi and Prince Mermahn have a potential to become toys merchandise and characters for Halloween costumes.

It is so refreshing to see a new channel where an real person is hosting and talking and not some A.I. voice reading a script.

The last wish got same numbers for opening weekend

Puss in Boots The Last Wish and Elemental are both sleeper hit.

I'd like to see a movie where Liza and Leah have half their head shaved. That would make it so relatable.

I missed out on the September seasonal event, but even the Finch app had a Forgotten Island-related section through 9/30

I just got out of theater and I liked it a lot.

I apprecite how educational this is~ clear and concise❤ thanks so much Rosemary🥰

Based on reviews, this film is a hit, and I kinda look forward to seeing it eventually. That said, I think the problem with this movie is the too-psychedelic art style and the "spiky" presentation of things, which I personally don't prefer. Like everything looks like it'll sting you if you get too close. I hope it sells tickets well at the end of the day, though.

I needed this cope so bad. This film doesn’t deserve to fail… to be forgotten.

As someone who lives in Los Angeles and works in animation, I personally thought the film did a great job with ads, especially in-person. I saw posters everywhere, malls, buses, and theaters a plenty. And I thought the social media team was very savvy too.

So it really surprises me that so many people online are blaming the marketing for this movie “flopping” (this movie isn’t a flop, it just had a bad opening week). I’ve heard so many anecdotes from people who had no clue this movie was a thing at all, or that they wanted to see it, but had no clue that the film was already out.

I think a huge issue for me is that I live in a news bubble very heavily tailored towards industry news, especially animation news. There was someone genuine hype for this movie, there was a preview of an early cut of this movie at Annecy, which is a SUPER important international animation festival, and it received a 5 minute standing ovation. That happened in June BTW. If more people knew that I think there would be more hype around the movie, but our newsfeeds are such individualized bubbles in this day and age.

I'm in need of that dissertation about A Parallel World 😔🙏

Why is this just a new channel? Why just now? Kidding aside, thanks for this very engaging post! I love the insights from someone who's really in the loop. I watched the movie twice and still missed a few things the first time around (because it moves so fast, especially the first quarter).

I think I saw one video stating the budget of this movie was $80 million. Nonetheless, I think it will continue to earn more once word-of-mouth has done
