Fun(?) fact: the centurion the main characters are talking to is none other than Tertius Longinus. According to legend, it was his spear that pierced Christ's side.

There's a reason the game ended up like it did. There was actually a lot more cut (or rather outright lost) content as halfway during the development the studio supposedly caught fire and a lot of data was lost irreversibly. Forcing the developers to stitch it back together with scraps of what was recovered. Resulting in lackluster final product and severely scaled down project in terms of complexity.
Pretty much all points of contention like bunch of abilities being pointless (especially Jones) and upgrades being randomly unlocked (as barely noticable as they are, like when Abbey gets an upgrade from telekinesis to pyrokinesis) or the repetitive level designs of corridors leading to arenas for 5 straight hours are all a result of this.

There's still an untextured player model of Ross (separate from cutscene model when he died) and an actual prototype texture of his mangled possessed body left in retail files.

In the end, the biggest shame is that the game is no longer being sold due to three way legal bind between the publisher (Codemasters), Clive Barker and the developers (Mercury Steam) as nobody sees the game profitable enough to have it sorted out.

Lots of religions portray the primordial void before creation as an endless ocean. The last location could be the beginning of creation

So Cole's ammo refresh I always interpreted as her reseting everyone's equipment back in time to the start of the mission.

To paraphrase her "if the ammo existed at one point, theoretically its always existed"

One other cool reference is that you have Alpha and Omega teams which refers to the bible passage "I am the alpha and the omega"

It's a shame that none of Clive Barker's games did well since they did seem to get better with each iteration.

that child army in the crusades bit? that kinda happened for real, it was the children's crusade around 1200AD

Dude how does this video only have 130 views, I watched the whole thing without thinking about it and expected the usual like close to a mil views at least lol great video. You've earned a sub for sure ;)

such a good and underrated game. really truly hope we can see a remake one day. a fully realised vision of this game would be a huge success in today's gaming landscape as a survival horror / fps title.

Honestly, I think the ocean at the end is just part of Barker's love of sea imagery. Several of his books, the Abarat series and the Books of the Art being the first that come to mind, heavily feature oceans and water. Maybe at the end of Jericho, they ended up in the sea of Quiddity! (Points to fellow Barker readers that get it!)

Im so glad you included that this was the prequel to Black Baby

saw the thumbnail and remembered playing the demo as a kid. video quality was incredible, and the script was great :)

I remember playing the demo for this game way back in the day. As a preteen boy it scared the hell out of me lol, but at the same time have always wondered what the game truly was and have always been fascinated with it

I was not expecting a woah Black baby Oneyplays clip

Fun fact! Al-Khali is Arabic for "The Empty"!

I've seen a bunch of videos on this game but this might be the best one yet, nice work!

Just wanted to say that this video popped up on my feed and I rushed to watch it since I've been obsessed with the story of Jericho every since I first heard about it nearly 14 years ago at this point. Especially, the Roman sections is to me the most nightmarish realm of them all, truly befitting of the sin of gluttony. Just people using each other for sport, food, sex for all of eternity with the depravity slowly devolving into cruel acts beyond human comprehension. It's such a crying shame we'll never see a conclusion to the story.

Amazing video, a sub for sure.

Very well done video, I see you going far in the youtube career since it was more than just collect all the achievements.

This format was really good, especially going over the story aspects while explaining the achievements. Also i got this game a year after release and the game informer issue had a split reaction to it lol i thought it was challenging and fun while most of my friends didnt want to touch it with a ten inch pole lol

This was a game I’ve always wanted to play but never bought on the cheap like I did for all the early 360/PS3 releases.

Fascinating high concept Action Horror w/ Clive Barker’s “flourishes” like Rawhead Rex (another creature God is ashamed of creating) or his work on the first two Hellraiser movies. Had this game came out closer to or in the PS4/Xbox One generation, I could definitely see it being far more refined and getting a more warm reception than it ultimately did…but it is what it is 🤷🏽‍♂️

Clive Barker never pursuing gaming ever again is like a prelude to Guillermo Del Toro’s various failures to launch (games that is) like

- InSane w/ the development studio Volition (RIP) at around the tail end of the 7th Generation of Consoles’s lifespan…which ultimately was part of what got it canned but mainly due to THQ’s bankruptcy from manufacturing & releasing a doodle touch pad for Consoles (the uDraw) + flops like Homefront

- Silent Hills, alongside Hideo Kojima and Junji Ito…the story we all know like the back of our hands by now that will never be.

Enough about that.

Loving the video and your style!

Just so you know, Gabriel is actually the one who said in bible "Do not be afraid", he is horrifying to look at and not an ordinary angel. Arch-angels/demons can take a look of a humans in real world, but have no need in their own realm. So its not such a stretch for templar to see a demon as a form of an angel (which they formerly are), especially in their own realm.

What an amazingly built video, Loved how you fully explained every detail. Will be looking forward to your future videos.
