This is the first video of your channel that i watch and the corgi rant caught me so off guard LOL
I agree with most of the takes (even though i like corgis...) i recently started to read a lot of Stephen King again, so happy to have found your channel! :)

Thank you for bringing up the book covers, my take on them as a whole is that whilst I find the current paperback range to be the most consistent in terms of quality across the board, I look at the first editions for some of those early hardcovers (Salem’s Lot, The Shining, The Stand and IT etc.) with envy. I’d love new and reasonably affordable releases that retained those covers, I don’t care about a true first edition I just want it to look kick-ass and have the title font take up half the cover

I'm really looking forward to your Danse Macabre book series. I've read 2 of the 10 books on the list; Rosemary's Baby by Ira Levin, and The Fog by James Herbert, and enjoyed both of these. I've also read Lord of the Flies by William Golding (which I think you mentioned you were going to include as King mentions this book a lot). Now I'm just about to start Ghost Story by Peter Straub, hope it's better than The Talisman, wish me luck. 👻

Thanks again Dave. You mentioned The Stand, have you read the original 300 pages shorter version? I've read some constant readers much prefer this. I'm not sure I have the time and energy to read it though. 2nd Comment: The Outsider US Hardback is an excellent cover.

My hot take is that Stephen King's endings are 95% of the time not remotely as bad as people say. I've read most of his major books, and only Under the Dome and The Outsider had genually bad endings. The rest of his endings go from appropiately bittersweet to simply jawdropping.

My hot takes for King would be:
• Randall Flagg is just an okay villain 🤷🏽‍♂️
• Mr Mercedes should have been a standalone and ended super dark lol
• 11/23/63 was amazing but it could have been edited down slightly, the conversations between Oswald and the Russian guy seemed to go on FOREVER and kinda dragged for me 👀 Ending was phenomenal though

Loved this video, you should totally do more of these man!
I loved nearly all of the UK paperbacks from 2011, super dark and a tonne of great covers!

I agree with pretty much all of these.

It’s nice to hear somebody else say that about The Stand. I never got the hype. I too thought it was too long and not great at all. Wizard and Glass is boring. I also think The Talisman isn’t very good. I love Roadwork. It’s so underrated imo

I’d also happily wait an extra year for something better than Never Flinch. I was very disappointed

1. Loved the Stand, but totally get why you'd hate it
3. Hard disagree about corgis, but I get the national trauma you have there (I love mine, he's a sweetie)
5. You're totally right about his endings
7. You're probably right, but you do have THOSE Dark Tower versions behind you (so do I)
9. As an American, you are SPOT-ON about Casino Mussolini. And King is absolutely right to trash Orange Julius the way he does.

There have been some pretty blah cover art for quite a few of his books. Do like US versions of Dolores Claiborne, Duma Key, and The Outsider. And yes Needful Things has a great cover!

As far as the art, I have dozens of the U.k Hardcovers, also, and they are beautiful. Tommyknockers misery, night shift, four past midnight are all way better than the u.s covers. As far as post 1991 covers, I do think The Institute is a gorgeous piece of art.

These are indeed hot takes. But a testament to you is that even though I often disagree with your opinions, I still enjoy checking out your videos. I do agree with your takes on King’s activism against Trump and that he knows how to write a good ending. Also, The Talisman was a foul read and Roadwork is actually good (probably my favorite of The Bachman Books).
