EDIT: I completely forget to credit ‪@wowitrekk‬ in the video for this excellent prompt - apologies, and thanks!

The Long Walk for me. Started it on a Friday evening, finished it the next day. I rarely read a book that quick, especially one that's 330 pages. Just couldn't put it down.

Massively disagree with It. It took me months and months to get though. It's just far too long. It completely kills the tension and momentum. The appearances between Pennywise feel so long, which means when he does appear what he does often feels anticlimactic after all that wait. And the interludes between sections I found so dull. I liked it overall, 3 stars "good", but if it was 40% shorter I would have loved it.

"Revival" for me has not only the perfect length, but also these moments throughout hinting at something disastrous that's going to happen. One of my fastest King and most exciting eads. "The Long Walk" belongs on the list, too.

Great list! Duma Key was missing for me

However Mr. Mercedes which I have just re read (a lie, I've re read the entire trilogy and have started on The Outsider already) is most certainly a page turner!

Christine is my personal favorite King Novel. He really gets what it's like to be a teenage boy.

I've always said bless Miss Tabitha.

She fetched Carrie from the bin when her husband tossed it. He didn't really care for it (it wasn't the story he sat out to write). She loved it, made him send it in, and look where they, their family, (his son is also a writer-pen name Joe Hill, and he has written a couple books with his dad) and we, his constant readers are now!

It's "terrifying" what the literary world and we, so easily could have missed out on.

BTW, I just stumbled across you, and I love both you and your channel.
Cheers.

Three that I could not put down were 11/22/63, the dead zone, and the Stand (the cut version; I haven’t read the uncut version)

@kevinwojcik6934 1 year ago

Currently reading 11/22/63 so I can tell by the thumbnail that you’ve hit the nail on the head with this one :-)

@vegardlie507 1 year ago

I have read 7 Stephen King Books. I read Misery first, totally agree with that pick. I would also agree with 11 22 63 and needful things.

My pageturners were the Stand, Duma Key, and the Institute (which i read in 2 days).

I read Salem's lot ( Jerusalem's lot and One for the road) two to three times a year. They are my favorite King writings.

Great list Dave. Going by my remembrances from when they were first published, my top 10 page turners, in no particular order: The Stand, 'Salem's Lot, Misery, Dr. Sleep, The Shining, The Dead Zone, Duma Key, The Green Mile (I read each episode immediately as they were released), Firestarter, It. (Honorable Mentions: Rose Madder and Insomnia). I love that you included the final three books of The Dark Tower!!

@JoanneRachel-u4n 1 year ago

❤❤❤ love your videos im working my thought the stand these are my favourites you mentioned

@tdrdavies2 1 year ago

Thanks again. I would perhaps put Under The Dome in there (instead of IT). And, perhaps The Long Walk, and/or The Running Man.

@pamelalagree-kanotz6845 1 year ago

OMG! I couldn't put down The Long Walk! And he wrote that when he was 19! YES, he knows kids! The Body proves that!

@tylerpeck9754 1 year ago

I just knew you would have The Green Mile serial version..... and I believe I read The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon in one day.. def page turner.. I was shocked about the Dark Tower books being on there but I def understand why after your explanation.. but for sure agree with Carrie, Misery, Needful Things.. I have a cheat.. Dolores Claiborne haha because there are no chapter breaks it is for sure a page turner .

Hi Dave, nice list. The first pageturner that came into my mind is The Institute. Not a very good book, but I couldn't stop.
The other books I missed on your list were The Long Walk and Running Man. So dense, so dark, must get through.

@matthewmedley8532 1 year ago

Great list green mile tops it for me. And misery, Dolores Claiborne, it and the shining up there as well. Great video.

Rose Madder was an absolute pageturner for me, even though it does have it's slow/weird moments. And currently reading The Dead Zone, another one where i just want to know what happens next!

Of course now is the question: What are the Top 10 Stephen King slow burns?
