The hint about pulling the threads out  one at a time is very good.  It certainly will avoid tangles.

This would be nice to make a quilt block by block and join them together!

For a quilt to be called a Kawandi it must have the phula's on all four corners.  As well the stitches should be small on the top and longer on the bottom.
