Oops, looks like this video came out faster than Shrek 5, but finishing it up now!

Omg lemme guess, the mother was once the most powerful witch of the magical realm, but fled Earth to raise a family, and kept the secret of her daughter’s abilities until now.

Hey so remember Onward? The Pixar movie about a normal teenage protagonist realizing they have magical powers and going on an adventure while mastering their abilities more?

Yeah well, Disney seems to have forgot as well

“Im an outcast… I…have coloured hair…”

"my whole life i felt like there was something wrong with me"

the first cliché of the movie, and definitely not the last....

have the writers never seen a school before? nobody acts like that just because someone's hair is dyed and they have a little eyeshadow. that's not even very edgy

I don’t remember who on Twitter mentioned it but they said that the reason why it feels AI generated (apart from the artstyle) it's because there's not a single shot where the focus isn’t at the center and theres no sense of composition, and I can't unsee it now

This literally has "HATED CHILD IS SECRETLY A FAIRY ANGEL DEMON WOLF VAMPIRE LIZARD PENCIL ALLIGATOR BIRD DOVE CROW ZEBRA LOIN GIRAFFE ELEPHANT HYBRID LONG LOST PRINCESS" vibes

AI has used the disney style so much that whenever I see a new cartoon, my first thought is that it looks AI-generated

0:44 oml ITS THE SAME NARRATIVE EVERYTIME😭😭

When I tell you there are 13 year olds on instagram who can write less predictable plots than Disney writers these days

The mascot for the school is an owl??? Disney really be knocking off their own show. Messed up with The Owl House and now they're trying to fix it. 😭😭😭

The concept of this movie had to be written by chat gpt

I saw a comment on the trailer that said "The Owl House, but if it fit Disney's brand". This definitely gives that vibe.

So first they cancel Owl House for 'not fitting the brand', and now they have the audacity to shamelessly rip it off? .......Disney, my hatred for you only grows stronger.

“ewww she alt” being the whole thing that isolates her drives me insane. as an isolated alternative person. over and over again we’ve seen the demonisation of emo, gothic, punk, and just general alternative people, because of this weird notion that every single one of them will never fit in.

a massive part of being alternative is the community. and the fact it’s just repeatedly brushed over, and flat out erased, makes it feel superficial and more… girl who is insufferable and blames it on the fact she has dyed hair.

which is not what alternative people want to see. if they’re marketing to quirky or misplaced people, they did it horribly.

also, is the whole point of this movie that alt people have no place in the real world??

I’m willing to bet money the reason why the mother wasn’t included [nearly at all] in this trailer is because they’re trying to make a “shocking reveal” in the movie that her mom is a witch and she gave her daughter the bracelet to “suppress her power” and “be like everyone else.”

Edit: just tweaked my point a bit more since I realized I was being too exaggeratory in saying the mom wasn’t in the trailer.

This animation style legitimately looks like those fake ai disney trailers from a few years back

The facial expressions are already reminding me of Wish and it's making my skin itch. They elongate her gaze as if it's dramatic, but there's nothing actually happening to warrant it. It's like they have stock animation for the "wondrously surprised," "shocked and conflicted," "awkwardly adorkable smile," expressions, and they just plug into whatever part of the plot formula would call for it.

Encanto was the last genuinely rich storytelling I've seen from Disney. Everything else has just felt like a predesigned skeleton being dressed with whatever Disney thinks the denizens of previously Tumblr and now TikTok want to see and hear.

This feels like a book Luz would read while waiting for the next Azura the Good Witch book
