"The wild" Recurring joke is just perfect. It went from funny to annoying and then so ridiculous it looped back around to funny.

Madagascar is probably one of the most unhinged kids movies ever and that's why I still like it

Madagascar is 20 years old oh my where have the years go

"So interesting how humans can come up with this"- My grandpa

This is one of the best DreamWorks films ever. This film is actually about Imposter Syndrome. It starts with Marty wanting to live in another place while knowing that Alex is dragging him down. Alex is in tune with where he is at in New York but it’s not his natural habitat. When you think of a Lion you think of a monster but Alex chooses to stay at New York cause he knows what will happen to him if he gets out there, he will eat his friends.

If there’s one thing people remember MOST about Madagascar, it’s hands down the franchise’s signature song I Like to Move it, Move it

22:22 You missed the Cast Away (2000) reference, where Alex says "Shut it, Spalding!" to a Spalding basketball, mirroring Chuck's iconic "Wilson" volleyball. He even had a paw print face xD

Not long ago I got bored and rewatched the whole trilogy and the penguins movie and I can just say that this whole series is amazing. The Madagascar trilogy across the board is super entertaining with some absolutely stellar jokes, and the penguins movie is its own flavor of wackiness that definitely feels like what the Minions movies tried back when that came out but Penguins actually succeeded at.

For those of you who still don't get the "sugar honey iced tea" joke, read the first letter:
Sugar
Honey
Iced
Tea

I’ve rewatched this movie and it’s sequels recently, and man I miss movies like this. Just zany, fun, comedy. It feels like most movies nowadays just try way too hard to be deep or dive into mature topics. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good to have movies like that, but we need more fun movies like this. The world is chaotic enough, we need more whimsy fun.

This film came out the same day I was born, May 27, 2005.

Madagascar was one of my early childhood movies.I got it on dvd and there was one night where I binged watch it until I fell asleep in my bed.good memories man

The whole Lion vs Zebra thing kinda gives 'You're not you when you're hungry' vibes

This is when animated movies peaked, Madagascar is a blast for everyone and that is the sign of a good 'kids' film

In the third movie (I'm not going to spoil it) there's a scene where they play a famous artist song when. I was little me and my family went to watch Madagascar 3 in the movies in the entire scene with that song blew me and my family away from how beautiful and awesome it was, even to this day whenever we watch Madagascar 3 my father always tells us "imagine watching this scene in the movies, oh wait we did!" For a good long while we sing the variant of Happy Birthday from this movie. I never phrases around friends or normal people and meat but when I am surrounded by my family I always make the joke "HOW LONG IS THIS GOING TO TAKE!" Whenever anyone in my family takes too long to something and it's always hilarious

I love that little scene w/ the Spider just trying to be nice and Alex freaking out. And the spider is so nice she doesn't ever realize what is happening and is cheering him on while going crazy.

Madagascar was my favorite trilogy growing up. Looking back now, I can understand why. The zany humor is great and I like that they don't really take themselves seriously while still getting great emotional beats in. It's no Toy Story, but it wasn't trying to be. It's just some silly movies about zoo animals in the wild that occasionally hits your emotions

7:59 I had a feeling something was going to happen when it paused, though I expected foxy.

Fun fact: Mort has 12 ex wives

Technically, there are penguins living in Africa. They’re officially called African penguins or South African penguins. In the past, they were also referred to as jackass penguins, but that name has mostly been retired for obvious reasons.
The penguins in Madagascar aren’t based on this specific species, but yes — at least in South Africa, penguins really do live along the coastline.

Cool animal fact, Antarctica is home to 8 species of penguins. There are 18 in total. Most are not actually around Antarctica. South America, Africa, New Zealand all have species of penguins.
