We watched A League of Their Own (1992) for the first time and wow… this movie completely surprised us 😳It’s funny, emotional, inspiring, and honestly way more powerful than we expected going in. I have a soft spot for this movie. My great aunt Dottie played for the Rockford Peaches in 1946. She's in the US and Canadian baseball hall of fame. I have one of her '46 Peaches patch from her uniform in a frame on my wall.

The women playing at the end of the film are the original members. My HS principal, Jane Moffett (RIP) , was in the league. She's in HOF, has Wikipedia page. A friend actually dragged her to tryouts and they wound up taking her and NOT the friend.

Alice's bruise at 22:12 is real.

She likes the high ones, but she usually misses them. That’s why Dottie told Ellen Sue to do the high ones. She was playing the odds that Kit would swing and miss.

Madonna did a good job in this movie

Kitt wasn't displined enough to lay off the high ones which is why Dottie had Ellen pitch them high. Ellen didn't get high enough on the 3rd pitch.

Geena Davis was amazing here with Tom Hanks and Madonna and Rosie O'Donnell.

Man i watched this with my mom as a kid. There wasnt a time that i didnt watch whenever it was on. Still holds up today. Being a blk kid and seeing baseball depicted around this time. I loved the scene with the blk lady getting the foul ball and throwing it back. Lol. This movie as a whole is just great. One of the best sports movies ever. Freddie Simpson who played Ellen Sue went to University Of Kentucky with my uncle. My Home state.

BTW You know the Dancer 💃🏼 was Madonna and her sidekick was Rosie O’Donnell. And that big bruise was actually real on her!

My dad is old enough that when he started working a job after college one of the older ladies in the office was a Rockford peach. My parents met in Rockford and I grew up near South Bend which is mentioned and Fort Wayne (both in Indiana) which also had a team in the league. Being an athlete and a girl I idolized this movie
