Also, I know Jenny is a VERY complicated character 😂 There were definitely moments during the reaction where I was frustrated with some of her decisions, but by the end I had a lot more empathy for her and understood how much her childhood trauma shaped the way she lived her life and handled relationships. I talk about it more in our outro, so definitely stick around for that before thinking I just hate Jenny 😭

all the historical references were real events...the Washington Monument rally actually happened, the leader with the American Flag Shirt was Abbie Hoffman.  John Lennon of the Beatles was on the Dick Cavett show..President Nixon was involved in Watergate and also had the ping pong team that went to china.  John Kennedy was shot and so was his brother. There was a photo of John Kennedy with Marilyn Monroe in the bathroom ..he had an affair with her.

President Reagan was shot in 1981.  George Wallace did stand in the doorway to protest desegregation and was shot.  

Bear Bryant was the Alabama football coach, legendary.

Lovely reaction. Not many people even try to understand Jenny and why she does what she does.  It shows your empathy and compassion, while also understanding that we all eventually have to be accountable for our reactions and behavior.  And she was.  My favorite line in the movie is when Forrest just sits down next to her in front of her father’s house and sits with her in her sorrow and says “I guess sometimes there just aren’t enough rocks”. That line just poignantly captures  her struggle and the impact of abuse.

She couldn't tell him, he was running and the closest cell phone was like 15 years away.

Forrest doing right by Bubba's mama is one of my all time favorite come ups in movies or tv, the symbolism of every woman in his family serving white people, to having a white woman serve her was chef's kiss. Also the common theme of this movie is running, Jenny running from her terrible childhood only to run to every version of her dad, her past was always her present to finally stop running and face her demons,  Forrest always running to something that would impact his life that showed his courage and thoughtfulness, Lt. Dan running from what he thought was failure to live up to a family legacy which all the others died in the field, that was what he saw has value, only to embrace his second chance at life

Ironically, Tom Hanks and Gary Sinise (Lt Dan) played astronauts in the movie "Apollo 13."

Forrest was a simple man.  Didn’t overthink.  Excelled at simple tasks and being told what to do

The was no way to contact Forrest about his son. He was running and there were no cell phones back then.

Out of all the Tom Hanks movies this is my all-time favorite one of him also remember my dad taking me to see this when I was a kid I was 10 years old that was back in the summer of 94 & nice reactions everyone

This was one of the first movies to use CGI, there is so much of this movie that goes over the head of those that live after the end of the 20th Century.

When Jenny says "I wanna be a singer like Joan Baez". Joan Baez, that stills alive, is a great american singer, songwriter, and activist, whose contemporary folk music often featured songs of protest or social justice. Baez was girlfriend of Bob Dylan during some years. And when Jenny started to perform in the strip club, her stage name was Bobbi Dylan... and she sang Blowin' in the Wind by Bob Dylan. She also has a Baez´s poster in her room.

I love the way this movie shows actual footage of true historic events. Jenny felt she wasn't good enough for Forrest. She had been dealing with her childhood SA trauma throughout her adulthood. Forrest had been running for 3+ years and she had no way of contacting him. They didn't have the technology back then that we have today. One thing you should give Jenny credit for is that at least she didn't just marry him for his money. She could've said yes when he asked her the first time, but she didn't. The Bubba Gump Shrimp Corporation is actually a real Restaurant chain that still exists today, and the Brit on the Dick Cavett Show with Forrest was the Beatle John Lennon. Another Tom Hanks movie you MUST put on your list for future reactions is "The Green Mile"! I highly recommend it! Thanks for another great movie reaction! ✌💙✌

Forrest going on the 3 year run was his way of dealing with the pain.

The scene when she is on the balcony contemplating the worst, the soundtrack song is called “Free bird” which, if you think about it, she wanted god to turn her into a bird so she could fly. It really is a powerful moment.
