My wife's mother, Beatrice Cooper, will be 101 years old this coming Saturday. She's still alive and played in this league back in the 1940s!

Jon Lovitz literally has 5 minutes of screentime, but his character might be the most endearing asshole ever put on film.

You know you're old when Madonna isn't instantly recognizable anymore. :face-red-droopy-eyes:

“Avoid the clap” might be the best autograph of all time

"There's no crying in baseball." A quote for the ages. Love this movie.

I find it humorous that she recognized the Madonna song at the end but never realized that Madonna played All The Way May. :)

"Marla Hooch, what a hitter!" Best character ever

@6:19 when Lovitz turns and yells at the cow, "Will you SHUT UP?!?"... unscripted and yet so perfect for his character!

"You see the way it works is, the train moves not the station."

If this movie doesn't make you feel something, you probably aren't capable.

I think my favorite scene in the whole movie is when Shirley Baker is looking for her name but it is revealed that she cannot read. The other girl comes up, and simply asks and then helps her find her name. No judgment, just pure humanity! Such a good movie...

I'm glad that they DIDN'T have a romance between the two mains. It was better this way.

The women playing the game during the end credits were actual members of the League.

"There's a Madonna song in it." And also a Madonna - "All the Way" May is played by Madonna!

10:14 That little "pickle tickle" line never gets old!

The AAGPBL was a real thing (All-American Girl's Professional Baseball League) and actually lasted 12 seasons (1943-1954). There were 15 teams overall, but only the Racine Peaches and South Bend Blue Sox lasted all 12 seasons. They started out Underhand pitch until 1946 when limited-Sidearm pitch was allowed, 1947 was Sidearm pitch, and the last 7 seasons was Overhand pitch. Over 500 women got the chance to play professional baseball for realsies. Such a great movie, and such a great reaction! When Marla is leaving home, I get misty every time. Those were real veteran players of the AAGPBL at the end.

Geena Davis actually only narrowly missed representing the U.S. at the 2000 Sydney Olympics on the Archery team.

“This is our daughter, Dottie. This is our other daughter, Dottie’s sister.” 😂😂😂😂😂

That is so hilarious and such a sibling rivalry line. Also so true among siblings who are competing with each other all the time.
