I like how Bryan is transporting the most important thing in the world and they didn’t just use a helicopter because weather… oh wait those are helicopters at the end.

The one thing that slightly bothered me was how much Brian stopped to meander in order to reveal the monsters. Like in the nursery scene there was no reason to stand there waiting for the bubble to pop

RIP George A. Romero, I wish you were still around.

As a fan of the Resident Evil franchise, this is just my personal opinion regarding this movie:
I would have liked it as a stand-alone horror survival zombie movie IF this movie HAD NOT been named "Resident Evil" and given so many related lore details of the franchise. However, since Zach Cregger was so adamant about making his own timeline of Resident Evil with this movie, this movie's overall story is honestly not impressive, if not downright messy. The virus in this movie is nothing like the T-Virus that ravaged Raccoon City at all. It is like Zach Cregger cherry-picked a bunch of mutated creatures from different Resident Evil games and crammed them into a single movie just for the Nostalgia Bait. Last but not least, I despise the "Everyone up top must be absolute idiots with IQ lower than room temperature so that the movie can happen" trope and Absurdly Convenient Timing trope in recent movies, and this one is no exception. I know that many people like this movie, but it is just not for me.

If Zach told the truth about what the movie was fans like me would have waited until it came to streaming. That’s why he said what he said, to get more butts in seats.

Forgot the Leon s Kennedy gunshop instead of it being kendo’s gunshop lmao

Maybe I'm weird, but I would love to have a movie about Chris, Jill, Barry and Rebecca. I would love a separate movie with Leon, Claire, Ada and Sherry. I don't care that they already exist in the games, I think the characters and plots are prime for a Hollywood blockbuster.

A good movie that doesn't even come close to resembling the original product will always be held back by that fact. I believe that no one would complain if a very faithful adaptation came out and was good (which is possible, fight me). Instead they would say "that's how you do an adaptation!"

Can ANYONE exlain to me why masses of zombies were waiting on roof tops...how did they...get there?

The sticker on the back of the car is his kill count

The constant swearing and the general incompetence of the main character being treated as comedy really reminded me of the Castlevania animated series. They took my boy Trevor C Belmont, The Legend/The Demon Chaser, the first Belmont ever to hunt and kill Dracula, the man who was extremely proud of his lineage and had assloads of self-confidence and turned him into a drunk asshole-ish whip wielding Tyrion Lannister clone. The only silver lining is that neither the CV animated series and this movie aren’t canon to their respective franchises, meaning they can go off into a corner somewhere and stay there.

31:42 it’s hilarious seeing fallout up there as an example of a good adaptation 😂

This seemed more like the THING instead of a Resident Evil movie

TRUTH BOMB, oh my god I left the theater so disappointed. I wanted Resident Evil. I got Neighbor Bad. Not good at all.

This movie is closer to an Evil Dead movie than a Resident Evil movie in terms of mixing horror and comedy - however it doesn't even come close to the quality of an Evil Dead movie. Remove the Resident Evil title, replace it with anything else and the movie becomes a decent horror-comedy movie. However with Resident Evil in the title ppl are expecting more than just vague RE references - they are expecting iconic monsters or characters from the franchise to show up in the movie. That's why this movie is so divisive. "Normies" not knowing anything RE-related watched the movie and like it while RE fans are mostly disliking it for its lack of RE monsters or characters.

Can we get a single modern film that does the following

Respect the source material
Have versmillitude
Doesnt have the characters with millennial writing "that just happened!" "I did that! With my mind!"

I mean considering Resident Evil 7 & 8 established Ethan Winters had regeneration thanks to the mold, we can’t consider him normal.

This character just makes umbrellas threat seem like a joke if this guy can survive long enough. His antics will cause your death within 10 min of a threat. It was a mistake for Cregor to say his character resemble the player. Guess what, the player dies fairly quickly and starts over. That doesn't make movie logic.

Its hilarious that iron lung is brought up cuz both movies do the reverse of what the games are about. Iron lung is just objective after objective and then ends abruptly with zero hope. Resident evil is a rabbit hole of uncovering a  conspiracy and then a hopeful ending. The movies do the exact opposite. Both characters die, but iron lung's death feels earned and satisfying and epic. Bryans is the abrupt hopeless ending that feels like a rip off.

It’s safe to say he didn’t enjoy this movie

Do we need more proof that gatekeeping is not only good but needed?
