Brutal Mountain Tracks And Breakdowns

Roadtrip Revivals

Join me today in this action packed video with my 1976 Ford Taunus Cortina in the Pyrenees. There are many breakdowns to deal with before we even hit the brutal mountain tracks. It's a real adventure, with incredible scenery, creative solutions to keep these old cars going and plenty of fun and games along the way. You would never imagine some of these cars could take on the mountains, but here they are doing it - buckle up for a wild ride!

My brother had a LADA and never closed it, saying "nobody will steal a LADA". One day though, after work, his car was not on the parking anymore, stolen! But it broke down 3 kms further, so he got it back, and said: "I told you, you cannot steal a LADA!"

All, except that Moskvitch, are better than most cars being build today. What an adventure!!

As a youth, I had a ropey MK2 Cortina and the gear stick fell out in the middle of a touring holiday, just like yours. I fixed it with a wire coat hanger fed up through the floor from under the bell housing and wrapping it around the gear stick. Once the tension had been adjusted with a pair of mole grips, it actually remained functional for months before I could afford a permanent repair. Oh the good old days. 😊

I had a MK3 Cortina 45years ago. Your gearstick problem brought back memories.

Proper camaraderie there! And leg-pulling to the max.

You are not ruining a classic, you're using it for what it was built for......driving, way better that than seeing one being put into a poxy scrappage scheme.
Thanks for taking us along on this trip, it looked epic fun.

I have to admit I got a little excited when I saw a new video. Friday evening with an Al adventure cool. English bloke living in Slovakia….lots of old Lada 4x4s here still buzzing around….would be a helluva road trip!
