Truth! Jude showed me this knot last May and I have been using it ever since. Works well. Keep the videos coming.

Always used forceps to tie the Pitzen knot, but your way is very straightforward and easy. Thanks 😊

Excellent video, I’m a Davy knot guy but I’m going to try this one, thanx

Jude, I revisited this knot, and I will definitely give it a try.  I forgot to mention what a super video.  Thanks for all your help.  Hooyah

Outstanding video showing how to tie the Pitzen Knot. Thanks for posting 👍👍

The figures shown in the breaking strain chart have convinced me. This could make the difference between landing a fish or breaking off. 👍

I have tried and tested several knots for tying on lures and flies. In my experience, the Clinch knot and Improved Clinch is that they really are inferior, as well as a Davy knot. Yes, they can be used, but the Pitzen or "16/20" knot is a superior knot and the knot I use for everything except large lures for big fish where I use the Palomar. The Clinch knot, Improved Clinch, and the Davy  knot will always break at the knot, breaking away from the hook eye. The Pitzen knot will not break at the knot, the line or tippet will snap a few inches up from the knot. In my view, that is a 100 percent knot. Tying the 16/20 with hemostats is very quick and easy as well and uses very little tippet if you just keep the loop size small, like a dime or less.

I don’t like the way the tag end points forward. The double clinch knot doesn’t fail. But in saying that I’m still going to give the pitzen knot a try.

When you tie your dropper flies on a tag, you may find  you are tying on with very little tippet.  I find it VERY helpful to focus on turning BOTH hands when wrapping down toward the eye. As you perfectly demonstrated !!!  :)   Great stuff again Jude !

I just discovered your channel last night Jude. I am using this knot in future for my casts. I also enjoyed your flytying tutorials. Thank you from your neighbor to the west in AZ

Wow and I thought i knew everything about fly fishing, kidding of course. Easier than a clinch knot, smaller and stronger. Thank you and look forward to more of your videos.

Thanks for the great info, I'm going to practice tying this knot today. I always enjoy your videos, keep up the good work

The best vid out there.

Thanks Jude!

Excellent!

The one I use allot is the Uni knot hooyah

Thanks for post.  Looking forward to trying.  As I get older, my eyes aren't what they used to be  and fingers not as nimble and this knot looks like it's easier than improved clinch especially with 5x.
Tight lines

How do you cinch knot down without pulling on tag. I want to keep tag short.

No loop knot?

Liked your presentation.  But From a guy who has been casting flies for 60 years, I have a saying when it comes to hooks and knots.  How sharp is sharp and how strong is strong.  Your knot is pretty cool, but I have used both Clinch and Davey knots all my life and they work just fine.  It becomes a matter of whatever you are comfortable in tying.  I'm not saying your knot isnt good.  Just saying some of us old farts are set in our ways and have caught thousands of fish using the old fashioned "weak" knots.
Nice presentation.
