I find it easier to wrap the loop than wrap the tag.

How do you cinch knot down without pulling on tag. I want to keep tag short.

In my experience, this is the best knot to use for fly fishing or most any other kind of fishing where you don't need an open loop knot. I have completely forsaken the clinch knot for the Pitzen. it's much stronger than the clinch knot.
