For anyone that says Alyssa is doing harm with these videos...I am a never going to be a Mormon but now instead of being really mean to missionaries, I try to be as kind as possible. They are going through a lot.

"They're not harming anybody"

Going to poor countries and convincing people that God doesn't love them unless they donate 10% of their income to a church with hundreds of billions in the bank must not count as harm to them.

13:15 A joke from my MTC teacher:

What's the difference between the MTC and a high security prison?

You're allowed visitors in prison.

2012-2013 Poland Warsaw Mission

"Paradise is here or nowhere" sounds like something straight out of an Orwell book

"I don't want to give up coffee because I like the way it tastes" is such an insider impression of an outsider 😅

I served my mission during COVID (2019- 2021) and it was HELL.. we only got an hour of "outside time" twice a day and the rest of our time was spent indoors studying, calling people, or posting on Facebook. I'm an introverted homebody, but even that much time spent indoors with my companion was driving me crazy!! Daily planning was horrible because it was so hard to think of things we could do and feel "fulfilled in our calling."

There was one thing that kind of helped drive the crazy away.. it was probably against the rules, but I desperately needed something! You know those giant containers of cheese balls you can get at like Walmart? I was obsessed with those and had recently finished a container. One time on a walk during outside time, I noticed there were a bunch of little tadpoles in the gutter down the road from our apartment. For our next walk, I brought the empty cheese ball container and used it to scoop up the tadpoles. I brought them to our apartment and raised them into little frogs. I kept them on our back porch and everyday I would go out and watch them while we ate lunch. Once they grew into frogs I couldn't feed them anything so on our next walk we let them free into some bushes. It was a fun couple of weeks with those little frogs and a bright spot in my dark memories of that time. 🐸🥰

I accidentally read the thumbnail as misogyny training center and i don't think that's too far off tbh

hi alyssa. i've been on and off dating a mormon boy at my job for the last half year or so (im catholic, never-mo). i've gone down this rabbit hole because i was curious about his background and the church, having known nothing about it. this journey has been incredibly challenging. he has tried to convert me several times and the immense pressure exerted from his devout parents and bishop to be "perfect" has left our relationship pretty much in pieces. i wanted to be that couple that overcame mixed faith struggles, but inevitably, the poor boy just can't think for himself while he's being pulled in all these directions. next month, he'll leave for his mission, and i'll probably never see him again.

i just wanted to say thank you for educating me so much. i hope one day he finds the courage to ask questions. i just got your book in the mail. keep it up.

God that first night at the MTC is something else. Laying on a bunk bed in a room with 5 other people, staring up at the ceiling and thinking about how you won’t see your family again for the next 18 months. No one in my room cried that night, but I know we were all awake contemplating the same thing. Seriously the STRANGEST experience of my life.

That never being alone rule sounds like mental torture. I would HATE IT.

Thank you for pointing out the amount of depression from the kids in the MTC. I was in the MTC for 3 months (learned Mandarin and was delayed in going to Taiwan due to the breakout of the SARS virus in 2003). I was so deeply depressed my entire time there, but I had never felt more pressure to be performative. I remember one of the classmates was given the task of choosing which hymn to sing at the beginning of class every day. I would always choose Christmas songs (even though it was spring) because that was the only way I could feel like I was quietly rebelling and getting a little piece of real life.

I was so highly pressured to be the perfect Mormon even though it never made logical sense to me. So while I was there, I read absolutely every bit of "deep" doctrine I could find. I read all of Jesus The Christ and every other approved book they allowed us to have. I was trying to so hard to find something that would finally make it all make sense and prove to me that it wasn't all a lie. Of course, the issue was, the deeper you look, things only become more opaque and convoluted since none of it actually makes logical sense and every book adds more contradictions.

I was in Taiwan for about three weeks before I just couldn't handle it any more and told my mission president I was going to go home. I was then allowed to call my older brother (an RM who was sent to Japan) so he would convince me to stay. But he gave me the best advice I was ever given. He told me that I should only stay there if I was there for myself, not for my parents or anyone else. When he told me that, I instantly felt so much relief that I could actually decide for myself if I WANTED to be there. And of course, I never actually wanted to be there.

I genuinely appreciate your content and I am hopeful that there are young people who will see this and learn what I learned BEFORE they have to go through the trauma so many of us went through in our lives. Again, thank you!

I always love when she puts on her old name tag. It is a very powerful move

I watched your videos before I was about to convert. It's how I became interested in the church to begin with. I was going through a rough time when I was introduced to your content. My dad was dying from cancer, and I was caring for him. Then I fell into the Mormon rabbit hole with the help of your videos. So I thought, what the hell, I'll invite the missionaries over and talk to them myself. I guess they really sold me. It was after my dad died that they went into full conversion mode, talking about the celestial kingdom and how I could be baptized for my dad after I became a member of the church. I had a baptism date set for what would be my birthday. After my date was set, I went on a solo road trip to Boston, and on the way, I stopped at Nauvoo, Carthage, Kirtland, and Palmyra, touring the sites while telling them all I was going to get baptized. I ended up breaking the Word of Wisdom after I arrived at my destination and started smoking weed and drinking coffee again. After I returned, I couldn't get baptized on my birthday because I confessed that I caved. It wasn't long after I returned that I met my girlfriend. I told her about this, and she was like, "You don't need to do all that to be good with God," and I was like, "You know, you're right," so I broke it off with the missionaries, and I never looked back. I'm still a huge fan of your videos, but during that time, I was going through grief, and the missionaries were so convincing. Glad I met my girlfriend, or who knows what would have happened 😂. White robes and green aprons? Most likely. After this whole near-conversion, I had a brief stint as a car salesman and that's when I realized I was basically a missionary of the Church of Jeep Chrysler of Latest Dodge Rams 😂

I'm a protestant Christian.  Whenever I have Mormon missionaries at my door, I usually invite them in saying "I dont believe Joseph Smith was a prophet, but Im happy to chat about the old and new testament scriptures".
I have noticed they tend to not stay long, and don't return. 😢

I'm from Poland and I only encountered missionaries once in the capital city of Warsaw. I was walking from my office to the train stadion and they literally approached me on the sidewalk asking if I was interested in Jesus Christ's church. I kindly said no, complimented their language and walked away. They probably only walked up to me because I'm young so it didn't seem that scary. Having to approach people on the street in the middle of the busy office disctrict full of skyscrapers where everybody is constantly rushing to work or home has to be awful, I can't imagine they met a single person who would want to listen to them. I just felt SO sorry for them! They were literal children and it was clear that they had no idea what they were doing.

As a german who was trained in sales and had a lot of contact with mormon missionaries because of my job: What these people do is something known as "hard sell". Not much different from what Scientology does, and not really what you should do in sales. Because it's prioritising short term minor profit over long term consumer trust.

New heavenly mother video dropped. We all cheered🎉🩷🫶🏻

It took me a long time to write a comment here, even though I’ve been following you for a while. I would like to share my experience and what I have noticed regarding Mormon recruiting tactics here in Lithuania. I’m from Ukraine, and I fled the country due to the full-scale Russian invasion.

The Mormon church here targets vulnerable migrant youth through 'fun and free' activities in English (since a lack of Lithuanian language skills often excludes you from local social life). They do not hesitate to monitor you on Facebook and message you directly when they see you are new in town.

I met some Ukrainian girls who were visiting gatherings at the Mormon center. They pointed out that they met handsome young Mormon men there who were paying them a lot of attention. In contrast, Lithuanian men rarely date Ukrainians or show that level of interest due to cultural differences. The girls were incredibly flattered—especially since American men have a certain 'romantic allure' for young Ukrainian girls because of movies—and they felt welcome there.

Because of your videos, I explained to them that this might be nothing more than a recruiting tactic, and I briefed them on Mormon culture and beliefs. Their behavior and luring tactics are mischievous and harmful. I believe that any 'faith based on love and respect' should not allow its followers to mislead and harm others.
