Michael had a near-death experience in 2022 during a medical procedure for a severe back injury. He describes being pulled through a tunnel of light, arriving at his late grandmother's farm, and encountering his deceased grandfather — a man he never knew in life — split into two distinct versions of the same person: one desperate and loving, the other bitter and trying to pull him down. He describes the communication in the experience as instantaneous and impossible to deceive, and shares how the experience changed his understanding of how much our actions ripple out and affect the people around us, long after we're gone.
