One (or more) music tracks were created by OSRSBeatz. Check out their stuff: @osrsbeatz

The Daggerfall music tracks I used are from the only collection on Khinsider. They were uploaded in 2006, and I have no idea who arranged the tracks, but they sound nothing like any of the remixes I found on YouTube. MIDI is weird.

Music used (in order of appearance):
TESII: Daggerfall - Explore 4
Old School Runescape - Home Sweet Home
TESIII: Morrowind - Caprice
Old School Runescape - Book of Spells
World of Warcraft - Tavern Theme
OSRSBeatz - Autumn Voyage Lofi
Old School Runescape - Cursed
An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire - The Battlespire
TESIII: Morrowind - The Road Most Travelled
TESIV: Oblivion - Wings of Kynareth

I loved the "disappeared into the crowd" and then you turning around and there was, like, one person 12 feet away from you.

The zombie appearing outside of town with a letter from Mannimarco attached to it is genuinely one of my absolute favorite gaming moments

@GioTheVax 1 year ago

I like to imagine in Oblivion Mannimarco is like "Finally after 30 years I've returned! it's time to conquer Nir–" and breaks out into a cold sweat as soon as Chipmonk steps through the door of the dungeon

25:42 The idea of using a zombie as a courier is so funny to me. I just imagine a necromancer stapling a message to its chest like a message board.

The thumbnail's "So you don't have to" is already giving me a hint of your suffering. Thank you for your sacrifice 😂

"Take the stairs. But if they're too heavy, climb them." was so unexpected that I laughed out loud at the train station 😆

"Ambient nudity" - now here's something I definitely didn't have on my bingo card. Damn it.
"Take the stairs. But if they're to heavy, just climb them." xD
"Take the door on your left. If it's to heavy, just open it and go through." - I love this "protest" against linguistic logic <3

what's crazier about the intro to Daggerfall is that the guy beside the Emperor is supposed to be Chancellor Ocato. looking very un-elf like

43:40 the skeleton rising out of the coffin is so funny

Ahhh, Daggerfall my beloved. And one of the most digestible portrayals of the MSQ dungeons to boot! :u

I like the main quests on paper - the intermingling politics of the Bay is a really interesting concept - but as you said, the low points can get pretty rough. It’s easy to see why the guilds and sidequesting take so much of the spotlight, since I think the game’s a lot more fun when you’re creating your own character and your own story to tell.

to be fair, the king of worms' reward of granting maximum reputation in every faction is actually incredible. it basically completes every questline for you and makes everyone like you
(also, fun fact: "the king of worms" and "mannimarco" are never explicitly stated to be the same person in the first two or three games)

44:15 You make a joke about the voice of King Lysandus and the Narrator being voiced by "Dave in the Bethesda Sales Department" but thats actually Julian Jensen/Lafey, Father of the Elder Scrolls and Lead Director on both Arena and Daggerfall!

28:20 small correction, his battle mage didnt betray him ( the emperor), the emperor betrayed his battlemage

13:25 FINALLY MY KNOWLEDGE COMES IN HANDY
We know that Morgiah is not offering her firstborn, according to the Daggerfall Chronicles. The letter just says 'first,' and this was supposed to be resolved in the third game, but then Morrowind was different to what they were originally planning.

Some additional quirks to the DOS version are:

*Dodge is broken and reduces YOUR chance to hit
*Walls are suggestions and you can go out of bounds easily
*Levitate just creates an invisible floor beneath you, meaning if you cast it while falling (without slowfall) you can just die from fall damage
*You can use hand to hand to begin flying upwards into the air
*Bethesda added a 'Teleport to dungeon entrance' button in the latest patch, as a quick way to address people getting stuck/out of bounds
*Several Totem options don't actually give you anything, such as Mannimarco not giving you any reputation at all

The list is endless. Daggerfall Unity really makes the game just... playable. A godsend

I'm proud of Chipmunk for managing to successfully cast DE-DIMENSION!

@omerhikmetarslan8424 1 year ago

I love that chipmunk became a recurring hero through our elder scrolls adventures, fisting his way through prophecies and bandits alike. Go chipmunk go !

I think of Daggerfall's game design as wearing its D&D influence on it's sleeve.

The mysterious letters breadcrumbing you along the Main Quest are hints from the DM. While you were off having merry adventures he wrote the next part of his epic story and he really wants you to experience it.

The dungeons don't make any diegetic sense because they're Gygaxian. Masses of corridors filled with teleporters, pits, traps, secret doors etc. They exist to provide a challenge to overcome. You're not supposed to think too hard about why they're there or how their form reflects their function.

Ted Peterson and Julian LeFay were both seriously into D&D and DM'd a number of campaigns. Early TES lore is cribbed from their DM experience, apparently. A bit part of Arena and Daggerfall's DNA is "I'd like to make a game that feels like D&D with the boys".
