Thanks for this one! I saw it at age 5, I remember that Kemp saw the gust of wind moving the lamp shade, so he knew that the invisible man was inside the house. That creeped me out!

The Victorian era railway shades and maniacal cackle are fantastic touches that really add a macabre dimension to this classic horror flick. Masterfully directed by James Whale and wonderfully acted by Claude Raines. Plenty to chew on here!

Not necessarily an aside: Which two novels by H. G. Wells that couldn't rightly be called "science fiction" were adapted into feature-length movies? Released in the 1940s, Kipps and The Passionate Friends, directed by Carol Reed and David Lean respectively. Rains also appeared in the latter movie. P.S. The Old Dark House is worth a view if only to see who's in it.

The Invisible Man is one of my favourite films. The Vincent Price sequel is good, largely due to Price's performance. I especially like that scene where he talks to the scarecrow. But the series really falls off after that. Invisible Woman is much more a screwball comedy, and what makes it is John Barrymore and Margaret Hamilton as double-act, along with a supporting cast of veteran comedy character actors, including Shemp Howard! The only thing, apart from the improved effects, that can be said for Invisible Agent is having Peter Lorre and Cedric Hardwicke as villains who don't even trust each other. I almost feel bad for them as actors because they do a fine job well above the level of the movie. The whole premise is utterly ridiculous, even for an invisible man story. No military training, no security clearence, can't speak German, let's drop him behind enemy lines in Europe to be a spy! 😂
