Heilung is amazing, even better in person.

Alfadhirhaiti can roughly be translated to "allfarther names" or "Names of the Allfarther", Allfarther being synonym for Odin. At 9:33 they chant some of his many names. I only recognised "Fjølnir" meaning Wise One; "Hangatyr" meaning The Hanged God or God of the Hanged; and "Sigfathir" Father og Victory (as in battle).

It does intensify, they add more percussion in each cycle and some additional rhythms inside the main metrum. It's my favourite song of theirs, because it's so powerful, in a way extremely masculine that seems to call on something our society tries so hard to suppress. And yes, it is spiritual and the whole Lifa concert should be seen as a ritual (confirmed by the group) and yes, they practice what they preach. And I think they rose to tremendous fame so much over the years since this performance, their first public performance by the way, as I do think they touch in something we are all in desperate need for, a grounding to our cultural roots that is so primal that it overreaches even Nordic culture.
When you look at their Red Rock performance with many native American people present and even tribe people joining part of the performance, how it connects with them as well, while they are not of Nordic descent obviously, it clearly speaks to a nature that is way more universal than any individual culture.

Great reaction guys.

Please continue this journey by reacting to Hamrer Hippyer, the closing song of the ritual from the same concert, it is equally amazing.

One of my favorite bands and can't wait till there's a time I can see them live. Their music is just different all around and grabs you in!

@PalleRasmussen 2 years ago

It is literally "The Names of The Allfather (Odin", the song is chanting some of his names.

Odin was the god of Kings and Lords, War and Death.

So if you didn't know, the LIFA concert is sort of one long story... telling a tale of an ancient civilization that only wants to live in peace but is constantly pulled into war by neighboring villages. Alfadhirhaiti is one of their more aggressive songs, at least in sound. The song is not aggressive in context though, I assure you... rather religious and spiritual, actually. (see my copy and pastes below for more info.)

You should also check out Othan, also from this LIFA concert. It's a Maria dominate song so more chill than Alfadhirhaiti. Othan I think is a battle chant and blessing by the priestess (Maria) before the village warriors go off to war. And it's beautiful.

Per Songtell-
Meaning of Alfadhirhaiti by Heilung
"Alfadhirhaiti" is a song by Heilung that speaks of the many names of the gods of Norse mythology. The song speaks to an appreciation of the ancient beliefs and folklore from which these Gods are derived. The song is a call to remember and remember the blood lines and interconnectedness that existed between the people of these ancient belief systems and the deities that were attributed to them. The song also serves as a reminder that although beliefs have changed over time, the love for these gods still lives on. The names mentioned in the song are associated with a variety of Norse gods, with each name alluding to a specific aspect or feature of the God in question.

per lyricstranslate -
Names of the Allfather (Alfadhirhaiti)
Dripper,
Greedy, Ravenous,
Slippy,
Swaying one
Hail, Hail, Hail I dedicate to the spear,
Gagaga, Gagaga, Gagaga I yell resoundingly
Thought, Memory,
And he's called Allfather
Mighty Thuler, Wise one,
Striver, Wolfspeaker,
Welcomed one, Pale one,
God of witches, Inciter,
Cheiftain, Readhead,
Hooded one, Wandwielder,
Famous lord, God of the hanged,
Nebulizer, Needed one,
Yulefather, Evenhigh,
Attacking rider, Allfather,
Victory tree, Father of victory,
One with a missing eye, God with painted shield,
Flashing eye, Shieldshaker,
Leader of the crowd, One with knowledge,
Shaggy-cloack wielder, Guardian of secrecy,
Terible one and Stormy one.

This is one of my favourites of all Heilung songs. I enjoy how much it gets more and more intense, like Asaf also said before. I’ve been watching this performance several times now and I never noticed the plastic bottle. 😂

@experimentalelemental92 2 years ago

Geri & Freki- Odin's wolves. Huginn & Muninn- Odin's ravens. Sleipner - Odin's horse.
The sacrifice is of the Warriors on the battlefield.

In Maidjan is a story about two tribes who are progressing toward the corruption of conflict and aggression and eventually war. Alfadhirhaiti is a war chant of a tribe calling upon Woden (Odin) to strengthen them in their coming battles.

I kinda like not knowing the words because I let my mind and body make up my own story as I listen.

you should check out eivor. she is touring this autumn again with heilung, australia and new zealand. she is a natural force blessed with a stunning voice. classically trained sopran, owner of a masters degree in traditional nordic vocal techniques. she also made music for the last kingdom on netflix and the computer game god of war.

It's not hard to understand why Heilung responds so much with everyone across the globe. All of our original culrual musig began with beating drum like instruments imitating our various heartbeats. Relaxed = slower paced, excited/aggitated = higher pace. All mudic started the same. Someone beating on something that made sound, someone added voice to it. The sound of Heilung is the sound every culture stared with. That's why it's so impactfulm
