People of Blissful Retreat knew Aureate Pavilion came for Han Xiangxun from the moment she told Uncle Zhou to persuade everyone to leave. They already understood that Han Xiangxun and the young master were tied to the disaster. Even so, the survivors chose to protect him by saying he had died. In their hearts, he is still the young master they cherished, but they can no longer show it for his sake.

"You left home at sixteen... Still remember the way back?"

It gets sadder when you play the Post chapter 1 story involving the Main character meeting everyone who died in a dream for the final festival they never got when they were alive.

Doesn’t matter how much drip I’ve accumulated so far. Rubys red thread never leaves my wrist.

Do you remember the NPC who teaches you archery at the beginning of the game?
His character is actually based on a real historical figure. He was the person who first introduced the idea of applying fire to arrows in Chinese history. The game even uses his real historical name for the NPC.

I love it, finally the story and not "S tier weapon" "Don't make this mistake" "Strongest build"  lol

Where Winds Meet is set in the Song Dynasty of China. Its original Chinese title, “Yan Yun Sixteen Prefectures,” refers to a historical region in northern China — roughly corresponding to parts of today’s Beijing, northern Tianjin, northern Hebei, and northern Shanxi.

This area was ceded to the Khitan during the Later Jin period. Losing this territory meant the Central Plains dynasties no longer had their natural defensive barrier against northern powers. The loss had a profound impact on the Song Dynasty and many later Chinese dynasties, and the region was not recovered until the Ming Dynasty — several centuries later.

In other words, the heroes in the game who devote their lives to reclaiming the Yan Yun Sixteen Prefectures never lived to see their dream come true. This is why the game carries a tone of sadness and regret: their ideals were only fulfilled long after their time.

1st region : searching for Uncle
2nd region : searching for Auntie

I am a Chinese player who recently launched the international server, so I have watched many videos of foreign netizens playing 'Where Wings Meet' on YouTube. I found that many netizens are confused about the plot of this game. Indeed, many plot details in the game are hidden in NPC dialogues or item descriptions. In addition, cultural differences also have an impact, as many people are not familiar with the historical background setting of the game plot, and of course, there are also translation issues. In short, all of these have caused confusion about the plot for everyone, which makes me feel a bit regretful. A few days ago, I even searched on YouTube for a video that explained the game's storyline in detail, but found none. This makes me feel a bit regretful, because perhaps the most prominent and outstanding aspect of this game is the plot, which is captivating and like watching an immersive movie. There are thousands of NPCs in the game, each with a wonderful story. Some have heartwarming stories, while others are very touching. I was moved to tears several times and couldn't calm down for a long time. The background setting, some characters, and events mentioned in the plot of the game all have real historical prototypes. Using the real historical background as a framework, make the plot of the game more profound and tragic. I occasionally want to revisit the stories that deeply touched me in the game. This game is worth playing seriously and immersing players in the grand stories presented in the game.

i feel dumb for not understanding the story until you explained it. this game is incredible though.

We all shed a tear for Ruby even if you find her annoying you still feel guilt. 😢
The Jianghu is really brutal. Every quests is involved some kind of death and sorrows.

Ruby, all hail the Red Heroine 🥹

the scene where you take control of ruby's horse and run all the way to where ruby's cape was really made me tear up, it was so simple but so touching, it was when I really got emotional. what a nice detail. amazing game

As a Chinese player who’s been with the game since launch day, I’d like to welcome friends from all over the world to explore Chinese culture through this amazing title!
The Sixteen Prefectures of Yan and Yun were a strategic gateway in ancient China, serving as the crucial defense barrier against northern incursions. During your main quests, you’ll encounter Tian Ying— the final boss of the entire Qinghe Questline.
Tian Ying was originally a gifted swordsman who joined the military out of righteousness for his country and people. To assassinate a key target, he disguised himself as Master Miaoshan and successfully completed the mission at Qingfeng Station. However, this act indirectly led to the separation of Hanyi and Chu Qingquan.
That’s why he wears three masks— each representing one of his three identities: the swordsman, the soldier, and the disguise as a monk. Eventually, upon recognizing that the protagonist’s swordsmanship was passed down from Uncle Jiang, he faked his death with your help and went north to continue his secret infiltration. (You’ll unlock the exclusive CG by collecting all hidden storylines!)

I did not expect to cry or feel sad or happy for every random story I came across... the world feels... lived in. I don't how to describe this feeling. It doesn't feel like a game.

Where Winds Meet continue to defy cliches. Or if they do run into them or tropes, they manage to not bore me at all. Peaceful hometown getting torched is nothing new but the permanence of it all and the execution just hits me. I love Blissful Retreat. Spent time just playing the flute under its moonlight. I didn't bother spend too much time though because I thought "i'll come back home some day", but then its all gone.

You may have noticed that the game features many different coins and currencies, each usable only in specific towns or maps. This reflects the historical reality that China did not yet have a unified currency system at that time.

In Kaifeng, you can also hear many NPCs talking about exchanging their money for a specific type of currency, and some officials refuse to accept foreign currencies for trade. This shows that certain regions in China had already begun implementing early concepts and policies toward currency standardization on that time

Ill never take the little ones bracelet off. It is a permanent accessory.

YIDAO is what we call homeboys from the west! Dude is absolutely a BROOO

the chapter ending is just pure cinema
