Speaking of weather patterns during cutscenes, I had heavy fog during the Gridania scene where you're first introduced to the big waterwheel and didn't realize it was there for almost a year.

I will say for the time bubble question: Yes, its a wibbly wobbly timey wymey thing, but I recall when Dawntrail released, people were able to figure out that like a year or two had canonically passed, because we had records of the date Kettenram went to the new world, and they gave an explicit timeline in Dawntrail of how long ago his expedition was, and it added up to like six or seven years past the calamity at this point I believe.

That's not a super EXPLICIT statement of time passage but its more concrete than anything we've gotten in a while.

The Columbo thing is accurate, Japan absolutely LOVES Columbo, all the way from back when it was still airing on TV.  It's so popular it gets parodied and referenced in all sorts of Japanese media.  Case Closed, Lupin III, Ace Attorney, Kamen Rider, and a whole slew of other properties.  The "hard-boiled detective" is so ingrained into Japanese pop culture that it's still being referenced to this day, absolutely love it.
