You said "oh it's in English because of American tourists." Have you forgot that England is just 30 miles away. Or that English is the default language everyone uses because whatever the nationality most people in the world would understand it. It's not because of American tourists.

Denmark here; Food quality in Europe is strictly regulated under European law; therefore, you will find a consistent standard across the entire continent.

Súper funny! You think in Europe we have translated to English in restaurants because “may be Americans”? No. We don’t speak American (indeed it does not exist), we speak English, which is European language. Most important: English is a “universal” language, meaning Chinese people will be able to read and ask for a meal here!

Remarkable how Americans think 'fast food' only means corporate chains. They completely miss the fact that independent, local spots can make fast food using their own recipes.

Street food has existed for as long as streets have existed, there's evidence of it in Mesopotamia 4000~ years ago as it's mentioned in the Code of Hammurabi (in regulations on the sellers).

“I didn’t even know you guys have fast food” at the same time fast food being literally ancient

The product names aren't used because the tourist come from America; it’s simply because English is the most common language spoken by the vast majority of tourists.
English is the language we use when we don't know the local language... so it makes sense.
The idea that it's all about "American tourists" is an absurd notion that doesn't hold up to any logic.

McDonalds is not king, its baseline minimum.

What do you mean? Fast food has been around forever in different forms. Even Romans more than 2000 years back had some

In Ancient Egyptian markets, there would be street vendors, selling their equivalent of fast food. It included bread, beer, dried fish, grilled meat, onions and other vegetables. The practice can be traced back to the time of the pharaohs at least 400O years. Same with Mesopotamia.

American defaultism, it's in English because they do it for the Americans .

Imagine thinking they put the menu in English because of American tourists 🤣

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿.  Oh Tyler NO! The menu's are not written in murican, they're written in ENGLISH. Which in a lot of countries it is a second or third language that they learn. Most of them of course speak better English than your lot across the pond.

One of the most popular forms of Fast food in the UK is the Fish & Chip Shops and the have been around for about 160 years!

The US certainly didn't invent fast food. In ancient Greece, about 2500 yrs ago, streetside vendors sold obeliskoi, a type of meat on skewers, plus small bread to eat with them.

Kebabs come in a few different types of meat. Generally lamb, beef, or chicken. The meat is seasoned and shaved, it's placed in flatbread with various sauces and salad vegetables, there's a real mix of different options available here. what's available will depend on the nation in question. They are delicious. They are also a go-to for the kind of food you get when you've had too much to drink and have not yet returned home.

Tyler you won’t have heard of any of these places because they do not operate in the USA and yes they would immediately know you are a Murican if you order the biggest thing on the menu

You ask yourself why the boy at Hesburger looks healthy? It's because children in Europe don't eat tonnes of fastfood every meal every day, but more like as a treat.  Many kids don't even see a fastfood restaurant once a week! It's special, not breakfast + lunch + dinner + in-between-snack.

The absolute best part of Hesburger is not only that you can customize your meal any way you want (add or remove toppings, change sides etc) but the fact that they use as much green energy and recycled materials as possible

At least in Nordic countries pretty much all people drinks milk with every meal. Not as much with global fastfood places, but if you go some local grill and take burger or fries with sausages, milk goes very well with those.
You can get reindeer pizza from Finland. Also kebab is very popular pretty much everywhere in Europe. Kebab is great so i wonder why there isn´t kebab in the US.
