The EU (and most of Europe) don't ban food that is unhealthy; we have chips, sugar, and colourings. The EU bans things that are DANGEROUS for consumption.

Here in Germany we have a saying: the Americans have ingredients in their food that we're not even allowed to use on construction sites here.😅

My family and I went on a 3 month vacation in the USA, but it was a pretty low-budget trip. We had money to visit places, but not to eat at restaurants all the time, so we just ate the normal groceries you’d buy there. Even eating only that “normal” food, I gained almost 8 kg of fat and weight. As soon as I got back to Colombia, without going on any diet and just eating the food I normally eat here, I lost 5 kg pretty quickly. There's something weird with USA's food.

Hi there from Ireland. I think the fundamental difference between Europe and America is that in Europe, regulations are designed with public health in mind and America regulates with the big corporations in mind. Big business buys the politicians, who make the laws that benefit big business!

Now you know the reason why no country want to import American beef.

As a British citizen it is my opinion that your country WANTS you to be unhealthy so as to rely on your medical services more. That = money and your continued need and the justification of your high medical costs and reliance on insurance. Our European systems purposely  keep us healthy so as to NOT use the services. That way they save money and care goes those in real need. Just an outsider’s view point though.

Short version:
In Europe, its banned until proven safe.
In the US, its legal until proven harmful.

The problem is that healthcare in the USA is for profit, which makes poisoning citizens highly profitable

I am now 81 years old and living in Scotland U,K. I have spent twenty plus years working all over the world and travelling in many other countries and in many cases my wife has accompanied me. Several times we have been to the US and I have to say that although we have eaten foods in every country we have visited over our lifetimes THE WORST QUALITY FOOD AND ALSO CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS 100% been experienced in the USA.

In the US you have to prove that it caused harm. In Europe you have to prove that it can’t cause harm.

Leaving America adds 12 years to your life😂

I's also why  Canada doesn't want your grain,meat or dairy products.

There's a saying that goes "americans eat as if their healthcare is free"

The horrible thing from an european perspective is, that part of the reason trump throws around with tariffs, is to put pressure on europe to get rid of our consumer protections, so that you could sell us your garbage too

in german we have a proverb which says "you are what you eat" and it makes a lot of sense now.

What is sad that the same companies make different products to sell in Europe but revert to rubbish when producing for the USA.

In Europe we read the labels even if we have strict rules for food.

In Chile, packaged foods have large black warning labels on the front when they exceed official limits. They say: High in calories, High in sugar, High in sodium, or High in saturated fat. In Spanish: Alto en calorías, alto en azúcares, alto en sodio, and alto en grasas saturadas.

These labels are very visible, so unhealthy food is much harder to disguise with nice packaging.

If you had universal healthcare, your government would start caring about how healthy you all are and would start regulating this stuff

US is for companies, EU is for people.
