Hi John, greetings from Minneapolis Minnesota USA! Thanks for doing the review despite so many others covering it 1st. Many audiophiles, like myself, really respect your opinions and methodology ! So happy you compared the T8 to the WiiM Ultra! I have the Ultra USB into a Denifrips Ares 12th on to a McIntosh c50 to mono blocks to Klipsch La Scala’s. I have been wondering in the T8 would be a real improvement, sounds like, for my system, it would. What really interests me is the SSD slot in the T8 allowing it to be used as a server as well. I’m 68 and really interested in getting the best sound with the least amount of boxes possible! Very informative video! Thanks again!

I have had the T8 for just on a week. I am impressed by it( but this is the first real streamer I have owned) the only thing I have questions about is the remote: its a really nice remote but it is rechargeable. The greenie-angel on my right shoulder is whispering what happens when that internal battery fails? The little corporate-demon on my left shoulder is shouting by the time that battery fails you will be wanting a new streamer anyway.

This would be perfect if it supported Google Cast, I use YouTube music on Android a lot and as far as I can tell there's no way to send music without it, it even has a TV app. I'm sad.

I worry about quality. My Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition Gen 2 suddenly died completely after only 18 months of use. My listening room has proper surge and power protection, so this does not appear to be an external electrical issue.

I’m currently waiting for a definitive response from Eversolo. To their credit, they have replied to my emails so far, but without a clear resolution yet. From what I’ve found, this may be related to an issue affecting an early production batch.

Very surprising and disappointing for a unit at this level to fail so soon. Hopefully Eversolo confirms the cause and provides an appropriate solution.

My question about these dedicated transports like the T8 and T10 would be what is the value proposition of this over say a wiim ultra and a decent DDC?

Can they really out perform that combo in terms of sound quality as a transport?

Don't get me wrong these look great but it seems like if you could live with more boxes then potentially similar sound quality is achievable.

The same case could be made of a mini PC and DDC with HQplayer or something similar.

WiiM Pro Plus? Bluesound Node Nano?

Some odd comparisons with the much pricier T8.

Eversolo TV App does not take advantage of full screen width, and unnecessary scrolls titles and informations. This is not good.

Why T8 and not T10 which is out there on the market already? Thanks for your interesting review anyway. Cheers!

Is the WiiM in the same price range? Why not compared to the Volumio Rivo+?

I just use my T8 for the worldwide FREE radio & BBC sounds OK sound varies in quality Swiss French and American jazz stations are rather good and connected to my Mola Mola tambaqui Luxman 509x and TAD ME1s sound very good too .Oh did I mention it is FREE !

The Wimborne CD EP has been my white whale since it was released. I even helped run a record store then and couldn’t get it in the shop. I even emailed Daniel Pemberton sometime in the late 90s and he gave me a download but it was a corrupted file. That is the track I’m after, his remix.

I have a Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 passed through a Cambridge Edge W stereo power amp. I used Room Perfect for a while and it sounds good. Nice and tidy (vaguely speaking). However, I switched it off out of curiosity, and I noticed a bit more depth and dynamics. So I just adjusted the troubling EQ frequencies manually, and now I prefer it without the Room Perfect. It's not a bad 'free upgrade'.

From what i've read and my own experience, physical media still outperforms Streaming ! Streaming is great and has its place but the Delta in all these products seems to be so small. My mantra is if your chasing better fidelity put your money towards physical media and hardware. Stream with the gear you have and if there's an album you really like get the hard copy! Spending more money on upgrading streaming, when i know that ultimately it would sound better on CD doesn't seem right. Granted if streaming is your only source then the upgrades may be worth it to you. Just sharing an opinion here , not saying i'm right or wrong!

Had a T8 for about 3 months, replacing an older Auralic ares pro 1st gen.

The key selling points were a) Apple Music, b) internal ssd storage.

Everything works really well, aside from the ssd. It “mostly” works, but some tracks don’t transfer or index well. This can leave an album playing, with 1 or 2 tracks silent.

I have to say though, the difference between streamers is small. Which means your return on investment is also really small. If another part of the system, including cables (yes, I went there 😅) needs improving, invest there 1st

You know what Eversolo? Do a version with no screen display at a lower MSRP but offer the connect app in the bundle to display on your tv and I am in. I agree, this was a brilliant idea, no need to squint over the box which could be far from your sitting/listening position.

I would actually like to cut down from a multi box streaming set up, I wish one of the current crop of reviewers might take a look at the very interesting Shanling SM1.3r r2r ladder based streamer....absolutely no available reviews at this point and the Shanling has been available in the UK for a good few months now.
I've become a bit sceptical at the( perceived useful) gap in sound quality between a decent two box and a good quality single box approach...oh and absolutely adore the Twilight Sad's first two albums....seen them at Barrowlands..cracking set.

For fear of John Darko firing me as a Patreon, I will not write a long commentary here like I did on the Patreon version. But will make a short comment. I was very excited to get my T8, and all the "stuff" that came with it. After 8 months, I realized I did not need all the electronic / software in that box, never even downloading the Eversolo software, and sold the T8. Buying what I personally think is as good and better sounding, but with a lot less "Stuff" in the unit, making it simpler and cleaner. YMMV..........

Greetings from Canada Mr. Darko. Thanks for your review. In your opinion would I get a lift in sound (revealing high grade system) moving from a Nucleus Plus or a Oppo 205 acting as a streamer for Roon - both connected to a Prima Luna Evo 100 DAC. I would really appreciate if you have time to respond to my question. Many thanks in advance and keep up your good work, please.

I am surprised to see your return to digital transports, comments be dammed. I cant help but wonder if you are quoting other reviews to deflect the inevitable "bits are bits" crowd who are relentless online. For some reason, everyone needs to justify why they are happy to them. Only to be told they are wrong. 🤷‍♂️
