Starting Over at 55: Why I Left My Old Life Behind

Notes From The Country

At 55, I realised I couldn’t keep living the way I had been.

After years of pushing through, doing too much and putting myself last, burnout forced me to stop and really look at the life I was living — and what I actually wanted from the years ahead.

So I left my old life behind and moved to the country, choosing a slower pace and more space to let my body and mind recover.

This isn’t about saying everyone needs to move to the country. It’s about recognising when something in your life needs to change, and giving yourself permission to make that change.

If you’re a Gen X woman who’s feeling tired of the rush, questioning what comes next, or simply wondering if there’s another way to live, I hope you’ll see a little of yourself in my story.

I'd love to hear what you think - and whether you've ever felt the same.
