It’s so crazy to me to hear someone say they never heard ELO, then I remember how old I am. ELO has always been one of my favorites.

You guys have no idea. The depth and choice of music we had in the seventies was incredible.

In 2019 when my dad was in hospice for dementia, I played him Mr Blue Sky because ELO was one of his favorite bands, For a brief moment my dad smiled and drummed his hands to the beat on the bed. I can't play it now without a tear in my eye. I miss my dad and this band makes me feel closer to him.

I am SO thankful to have been a kid in the '70s and a teen in the '80s. The music I was exposed to in my formative years was absolutely AMAZING.

I don't want to sound like a typical Boomer or old fart but we were so privileged with the fabulous music we grew up with.

No one is more deserving of the title 'musical genius' than musician, composer, writer, arranger, producer Jeff Lynne.

Jeff Lynne is one of the greatest music producers of all time and doesn’t get enough credit for it

My husband and I loved watching and listening to ELO. He passed on 7/10/26. We loved telephone line and I cry when I hear it. Beautiful music.

I saw ELO in concert just a day or two after John Lennon was shot. Jeff Lynne literally started crying and said they were going to honor their “hero” John Lennon. Then they did a set of five or six Lennon songs (Beatles and solo). It was beautiful and heart wrenching at the same time. I’ll never forget it.

My dad was a sound engineer for ELO on the 78 US tour and my brother and I and my mum were lucky to be on the tour for six months. I was six years old at the time. When my dad passed a couple of years ago we played Mr. Blue sky on the way out of the funeral house, certainly bought a smile in my face that day!

"Turn to Stone" and "Livin' Thing" should definitely have made the cut.

Back when artists actually wrote music and no one had autotune.

It was not a talk box in Mr. blue sky, it's called a vocoder. It uses a microphone to open and close gates, using frequency to manipulate the sound of a synthesizer. ELO was one of the pioneers of the day experimenting with vocoders.

Jeff Lynn talked George Harrison out of retirement along with Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison to create one greatest supergroups ever. All to prove that creating music was still possible in an era of hip-hop and sampling music tracks. Both Traveling Wilburys albums are excellent.

Yeah, Jeff did everything. Writer, composer, producer, singer, general all round genius

I was born in 59, there was a FLOOD OF TALENT loosed upon us!

Jeff Lynne is one of the brilliant producers who both has his own recognizable vibe and also pulls out the best essence of the artists he works with. You should read the story of how the group The Traveling Wilburys came together. It starts with "Jeff Lynne and George Harrison were hanging out working on a track for Harrison's next album" and ended up with Lynne, Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, and Bob Freaking Dylan (and Jim Keltner) hanging out and having too much fun to stop.

ELO is so criminally underrated it's crazy. Amazing songs, unique arrangements, incredible production. Great, GREAT work.

I cry every time I hear “Telephone Line.” The idea of not being able to reach loved ones who have passed on, or lovers who are no longer in your life. The begging for the line to just ring a little longer. We’ve all been there. Those few seconds are your grasp onto hope; when it ends, so does the possibility for closure.
