Asking questions is the opposite of being dumb. That's how you learn, nobody knows everything.

Another thing. I went to visit an native american in 1991 and we stayed on his res before we went on a roadtrip up to sacramento and down through the mohave desert.... When I was on his reservation in CA (Manzanita) he kept asking me; do we have this do we have that until one day I was flossing my teeth and he asked me Do you have floss in Sweden.... I just turned to him and calmly stated: Darling; I'm from ANOTHER COUNTRY NOT ANOTHER PLANET!!!

Don't worry about people thinking you're might be stupid. It is refreshing to meet people who want to discover something new and do not stay stuck in their own bubble. In Germany we have a saying. "People who ask may seem stupid but people who don't ask remain stupid". We are all good at something and have less knowledge in other fields So keep it up you're doing well.

"Being dumb is not an exclusively American trait, but when Americans are, they excel at it."
PS. not being curious about the world around you, that is dumb!

The American dream is about being able to buy everything you want. The European dream is about everybody being able to buy everything they need.

What worries me as a Brit is the slight shift from some in society to a more ‘American’ mentality on politics and basic social welfare

To Greg at 3:38, the way I usually explain it, we don't have the freedoms to carry a gun, we have the freedom not to need them.

Recently I spoke with American tourists here in the Canary Islands. Obviously they were the greatest with most freedom. I'd heard it all before but what shocked me was that everything Spanish was paid for by the Americans who saved the Spanish in WW2. They refused to accept that Spain was neutral (officially) during that war.
If only I could have put them on a one-way flight to paradise.

When you hear a loud bang in Germany, most people think something like, “Just some teenager playing around with firecrackers again.” I’ve never experienced anyone assuming it could be a gunshot.

Once i met a old man in a train in Germany. I'm german and i was 20 years old. And he said to me that he was lucky to survive the second world war as a simple soldier and married after the war and he had a good life. The only thing he deeply regrets was the fact that he couldn't visit other countries while he was young. He implored me, while you are young, travel, travel and travel even more. Visit other countries, people and cultures. It will open your mind and will get you a lot of friends. While you are young you can sleep and work everywhere. So the costs are relativly. But it will give you so much that you don't regret it. I think the american expats or tourists aren't the problem but the major part of the US youth is afraid of travelling in other countries.

So I watch this vlog of an American (of Asian descent) who moved to Poland. He says in America, people look down on him because Asians are typically seen as dorky and unattractive. In Poland, people think highly of Asians because they are hardworking and respectful. It just says a lot about what these societies value.

24:50 it’s exactly like when we Europeans check on news about the US to see what’s up 😂

Celsius temperatures are pretty straightforward:

0 ºC = Freezing
10 ºC = Cold
20 ºC = Cool
30 ºC = Warm
40 ºC = Hot
50 ºC = Dead

🇵🇹 We have duties and rights
One of our rights is to be able to choose, work to live or live to work
Portugal is 900 years old, we are old enough to have reached a conclusion
Cheers from Portugal

Irishman here. I really enjoyed and learnt from this. You guys did more than react; you really filled it in with your own experience and insights. Great mix of light and shade. In these dark times. Thanks so much.

As Dutch person, I don't think Americans are dumb, but rather closed-minded.

We don't have the freedom to carry a gun but, we do have the freedom from worrying about being shot.

The USA didn't change the measuring units. European countries updated their measuring units, while the USA kept the medieval units that the first European settlers brought there.

I don't think most Americans are dumb, but I do think your education system isn't well-rounded enough to really inform the American population about the rest of the world.
