The Fairy Voice Mother

In this video, I react for the first time to Tenacious D performing "Tribute”. I analyze their amazing performance, explain and demonstrate their vocal techniques and I'll tell you what I think made it so great. Jack Black and Kyle Gass are icons of comedy and it turns out they’re also serious musical talents!

I think you would really enjoy "Kickapoo" by Tenacious D. Three great and very different vocalists in one song for you to react to!

Dave Grohl as the demon (and he played drums on the album)
So many pre-parties have been spent doing singalongs to this song 😅

Dave Grohl = BRITISH GRANDMA 🤣🤣

You nailed it: the genius of Jack Black and Tenacious D is that they are always FULLY committed to the bit. Which includes both of them being legitimately brilliant musicians and songwriters. They're deadly serious about their extreme silliness, and few comedians (especially of their generations) have that kind of confidence. They've been a breath of fresh air to me for 25 years—and it really delighted me to see you take them so seriously as well. ❤

The song they sang to beat the devil was the greatest in the world. However they couldn't remember the lyrics of that song.... so they made a tribute to that song... that is this song. Just a tribute to the greatest song in the world.

@LessThanThree76 2 years ago

This is not the greatest comment in the world… no, no… this is just a tribute.

Love that you caught the Ben Stiller cameo, but you missed Dave Grohl as the devil! Tenacious D have some great music, and The Pick of Destiny too!

@WolfHreda 2 years ago

That is Ben Stiller. He and Jack Black have been friends for a long time, and that's why JB finds his way into many of Stiller's projects. Likewise, Ben Stiller pops up in Black's stuff, too. In their movie, Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, Ben Stiller plays a guitar store employee that sets them on the path to their goal for the movie.

I wasn't expecting a neurophysiology lesson in the middle of a musical reaction/analysis, but I'm not complaining.

I'd strongly recommend their movie 'The Pick of Destiny'! It's basically the Tenacious D origin story (and has a lot of their music in it as well) 👍

"ahhh I knew she was an old grandma"

I freaking love this channel

Their song Wonderboy is pretty fun as well, Jack has a lot of great runs in it.

Fell in love when you used the "X-Files " theme song ❤

Are you sure your student doesn't have a hidden message in wanting to learn that song? Hahah

3 more Tenacious D songs you need to listen to are Kickapoo, dude I totally miss you and master exploder. These are some of my absolute favorites!!

As soon as I hear those ending chords now, I instinctively turn my volume down before demon grandma starts screeching at a million decibels!

Widely believed "Stairway to Heaven" is the referenced greatest song in the world (you can pick up guitar notes from Stairway in several sections), and this is a tribute to that song.
