Is Control Resonant actually as good as everyone says it is?

After seeing almost everyone praise Remedy's latest game, I had to find out for myself. Especially considering my complicated history with Remedy, Control and Alan Wake 2.

Control Resonant surprised me. The visuals, world design, exploration, traversal and progression are all excellent, and the game does a fantastic job of making its open world feel like something worth exploring rather than another giant map full of chores.

But the combat isn't quite as impressive, the enemies can be incredibly spongey, the boss fights are disappointing, and the story hasn't completely hooked me yet.

So is Control Resonant worth the hype? Is Remedy's latest actually great, or is the internet exaggerating?

I forgot to mention that I played this game on low settings. Just because I don't want to melt my gpu recording gameplay. It obviously looks better than this and runs fine with some framerate dips.

If you're playing this game and seeing this, upgrade everything for all the weapons even the stuff you're not using, it increases your aberrant strenght.

Remedy games are basically 70% story/ lore 30% gameplay . Control has some of the best lore in game

Good video. Never been a fan of Remedy games. Alan Wake just never clicked with me and I quit control pretty early into the game.

I waited because IGN/Gamingbolt and others said it was a good game. I immediately did a full stop and waited for real reviews from gamers who actually game. Money saved.

And if its too easy , you can literally customize the difficulty in the assist option as much as you want

I’ve been playing it since release and as a fan of Alan Wake 1 and Remedy as a whole I can confidently say that Resonant is good but definitely not a masterpiece and a bit overhyped.
If this game was from some random studio it wouldn’t get half of the recognition it gets.
I agree with your point of view. The fight is tedious and mediocre. The main character is a boring loser 🐱 . Basically the game shines with its quirkiness. The awkwardness and unique design make it what it is. I’d give it 8/10.

I enjoyed it for the most part, not as much as the first control. the whole gravity shifting was fun at first but then i started to get more annoyed by it, it did turn traversal into a puzzle but many times i would just hit a checkpoint and turn it off because i didn't have the mental spoons to deal with it at the moment.
