Just so you know, the Welland Canal between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario is wholly in Canada.  The old Erie Canal is too small to handle the big cargo ships of today.
Of the 15 locks on the St Lawrence Seaway, 13 are in Canada.

Doug ford already wants to flip the switch. 👀😂

As an Ontarian, I've never heard of British Canada. Upper Canada and Lower Canada (basically Ontario and Quebec to start)
I just started this video but anticipate you're going to learn about the Welland canal.
If you ever have the opportunity to visit the Niagara Region find Lakeside Park in St. Catharines. Its on Lake Ontario with a beach and a historic carousel that costs only 5 cents a ride (it was sold to the city decades ago, on the condition they never increased the price)
5 stars. Highly recommend

Canadian here: Strac, I am absolutely delighted to watch you learn so much! It's clearly broadening your horizons! Well done, young sir! ❤🎉😊

He mentioned Etienne Brule using a picture of Samuel De Champlain

He said Lake Ontario is the final stop before the Atlantic; the last stop is the St. Lawrence River, not Lake Ontario. If it is about the final stop to be a lake, then the last one would be Lake St-Pierre near Trois-Rivières, Quebec, which the St-Lawrence River goes through. By the way, Lake Ontario isn't the most strategic point, the St-Lawrence River is.

The only threats to Canada are from the U.S., so we really don’t need or want U.S. military protection.

Hi Strac, it's me again, from Canada...the fur that the trappers preferred was beaver pelts, mainly shipped to Europe to be stripped of the fur fibers and made into beaver felt. Beaver felt, very similar to the felt covering a pool table, was steamed and stretched over hat molds and made into a variety of hats...top hats, capotains hats, wide-brimmed cavalier hats, the D'Orsay flat hats, cowboy hats and Fedoras, every hat style in the 19th century were made from beaver and beaver blends.

You look fine, Steac :) The name Canada is actually quite old. When Jacques Cartier asked some First Nations kids what that place up ahead was called they used a Huron Iroquois term meaning the village.  Cartier thought it referred to the land and his mispronunciation of the word stuck,  much later becoming Upper and Lower Canada (French and British zones

3:48 Two men actually found it. Oh Strac, there's so much more to learn about the "founding" of Canada. I am Indigenous, Anishinaabe and yes, we're still here. We're spread around the Great Lakes, but we're still here. I myself live near a smaller lake north of Toronto. And once upon a time, our people did not have "heating", only by means of fire. Yes, even through Canadian winters but we hunted for fur to keep us warm and meat and fish to feed us!
Canada won't do anything as vicious as what the u.s. has done unless we're militarily attacked.

Even if you control the lake you can’t get to the Atlantic Ocean and sell to the world without travelling through Canada’s St Lawrence River 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦. We would be smarter to charge a fee than to close it off.

You can't get from the St Lawrence to Lake Ontario without the locks of the St Lawrence Seaway ...you can't get to Lake Erie from Lake Ontario without the locks of the Welland Canal ...the Soo locks get you from Huron to Supirior

suggested video: some people joke about the Canadian military and its contributions because to our military, it's a job to be done, not a thing of glory. The Battle of Kapyong during the Korean war illustrates this beautifully. "700 Canadians, 10,000 Chinese — The Night Everyone Said Canada Would Be Overrun" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szbHFQqmHkA It wasn't a one-offer, it's the standard.

Look into the HMS St Lawrance...a 112 gun first rate ship built on the land locked Lake Ontario for the war of 1812 ...in service 1 year
It was a monster ... As big as Britains big ocean warships ....largest wooden ship on the Great Lakes

Hopefully, they would still let the ships travel through the St. Lawrence...for a fee.😊

sorry for the typos, Strac. I was typing on my phone in a parking lot :)

you seem to like knowing about other cultures, Strac so with all respect: the term "tribes" is not really used when referring specifically to pre-colonial people. It's First Nations (for the seven Nations; Inuit, for what people used to call Eskimo, and Metis for  mixed European and First Nations ancestry. These groups often use the terms "clan" or "band" for more regional breakdowns. (apologies to anyone if I got any of this wrong)

Canada controls 13 of 15 locks, the us owns the 2. Both in the middle. Canada could close them but would they?

The first set of Tarriffs Trump set up ,, our Premier Doug Ford wanted to click that switch to cut your energy but just took the booze off our shelves to start.  Now look into the locks on the St. Lawrence that we have so you wouldn't even be able to get in our out of Lake Ontario. Lots going on beyond what you showed.

This American guy must've used AI. Please stop saying British Canada. He's probably confused with British North America.
BNA, known as Quebec (Because it was named that when it was in New France), later became Upper and Lower Canada.
Upper Canada is Ontario. Lower Canada is Quebec. No British Canada.
And your narrator has a terrible pronunciation of French.
