Suicide cords are usually on 240vac (dryer or electric stove outlets) circuits but can be made for 120vac circuits. Power to the home comes from a step-down transformer. It converts 7,200vac to 240vac for your home. That transformer can work in reverse. You apply 240vac to your service panel which is connected to that transformer. That same transformer will step up the 240vac you apply to the secondary and the primary is boosted to 7,200vac back onto the grid if you don't turn off the main breakers. Some homeowner will forget that last step - GUARANTEED. That's why they are dangerous.
