Champion 2500 Watt: https://shoplowes.me/44uGEdc

Buy two Champions and have enough money left over for a nice dinner with your favorite girl  😍
I actually own two 2500-watt Dual-fuel, Inverter, Champions. Great machines!

My Honda is 19 years old and still starts in 2-3 pulls. Solid

A 5 dB rise means the actual acoustic power of the noise increases by roughly 78%.  Therefore the Honda is much quieter.  That is a very important consideration for many.

I would pick the Honda all day long.

I have the Honda EU2200i.  I don't think any other brands can beat the quality of a Honda.

I own both, so I can speak to this from experience. The Honda IS quieter, and not by just a little bit. 6 decibels is about 35% quieter. But that's not why I have a Honda. I originally bought the Champion as it ticked off all the right boxes for me. It was dual fuel - because propane never goes bad - it had the features I wanted, a decently small footprint, and it was light. So when the power went out during a hurricane, we were able to quickly charge up the batteries that ran our appliances during the outage. The small footprint was for when we went overlanding. We needed a compact generator to recharge our batteries running various things like portable AC units and refrigerators, medical equipment, etc. First time we used the Champion off-grid, the stepper motor failed on us and left us high and dry in a remote area of the country. For the rest of the 3-week trip, I lugged around a 40lb paperweight (plus extra propane and gasoline) because it wasn't broken enough to throw away, but I was not able to obtain the proper part until I could call their customer service and wait to have them send it to me at home (Amazon does not have the part). It took me about 90 minutes to replace the motor after cracking the unit open and taking it completely apart - I'm a n00b at working on small engines, but it wasn't overly difficult.

THE STEPPER MOTOR GOVERNS THE THROTTLE AND ITS FAILURE IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO CHAMPION Without the stepper motor, the generator runs at too high an rpm and the protection circuitry shuts it down automatically after a few seconds.

So now I have a perfectly functioning Champion 2500 that I will never trust to work for me remotely, and a $1200 Honda that is NOT dual fuel, quieter, and is something that I can rely on.

I have a 24 year old Honda 5500. Spends its time outside but protected. Sometimes it just gets a run once every 6 months if we don’t need it for an outage. Choke, turn power on, give 2 slow pulls and fast on 3rd. Starts every time. Don’t know too many gennys that have lasted several decades and start on 3 pulls. I have a 2200 as well and is my go to for the cabin to charge batteries. Just works.

If price wasn’t a factor, I think most would pick the Honda.  That being said, for most, price does matter.  Being in construction, I’ve seen Champion 2500’s last a long time when properly maintained.  I have a dual fuel one sitting in my garage right now.  It’s never let me down.  They also have exceptional customer service.

For camping and small jobs around the farm, I've been using a Predator 2000 watt inverter generator for 9 years. I have put thousands of hours on this little workhorse. It has been used and abused. I keep it well maintained and I only use non-ethanol fuel in it. I've changed the spark plug one time (NGK) and it always starts on the second pull. Back in 2021 when we had a 5 day power outage during 100+ degree weather this little genny was a life saver. My wife and I ran a small window unit AC so we could sleep without soaking the sheets in sweat.

The big three are Honda, Yamaha and Champion. Had all three on the job site and all held their own.

Buy a Champion, keep it 10 years, and when it doesn't work any longer buy another.   You'll still save money.  I have a Champion full size generator and it works fine.  The key is maintenance.  I change the oil every 50 hours and the fuel filter and plug once a year.  Also I make sure to keep the carb empty between uses.  Run it dry by stopping it by closing the fuel valve and starving the carb.    Do that and it will keep on running.  It's used at my cottage during power outages.  I'm going to buy this 3500 inverter after watching this really great and well made video.  And by the way, I also have a large Honda generator and they are amazing, but expensive.

I had 2 Champion 2500 1st one the engine seals went out at 18 months, covered under warranty. The 2nd one the governor failed and sent metal  shavings throughout the engine, not covered under warranty because Champion warranty starts with the purchase date of the original not the replacement one so it was out of warranty. I purchased a Honda EU 2200I and at 6 months the low oil sensor failed so it spent a month in the shop getting repaired. Its Running great for now. On a side note I have 2 old Champion generators a 6500 watt open frame about 20 yrs old runs perfect and a 2000 watt inverter/generator its  12 years with around 7,000 hrs. on it . Still starts 1st or 2nd pull and runs great but goes through a tank of oil for every 2 tanks of gas!! Just my experience with these two inverters :person-turqouise-waving::face-blue-smiling::eyes-purple-crying: Update on the EU2200i the recoil broke waiting now for the replacement from Honda! Once again using the old Champion 2000 until I get the new part from Honda.

I have owned a small Westinghouse, Generac, two Honda EU2000i and a EU2200i. I sold the Westinghouse and Generac with less than 200 hours on each before any issues showed up. We bought a 24kw whole house ng genny and sold the two Honda EU2000i for near their original cost. We’ve used the EU2200i at the cabin for several weekends a year, premium non-ethenol gas, magnetic oil stick, meticulous maintenance schedule. Honda is worth the cost.

I have the Champion 2500W dual fuel generator.

Very informative video. Keep up the great content!

I’ve had a Champion for 18 years. Starts first or second pull. 😊

13 years later you could still have the same great Honda generator. Or 13 years later you may have owned four or five of the "other brand".

We use a lot of cheap generators at work, probably close to 100 on the pipeline job I’m on. They buy cheap 5-600$ dollar ones, not Champions mind you,but other brands. I’ll tell you now, they are absolute junk compared to the much more expensive Hondas. They start burning oil right away, bolts fall out from vibrations, air filter boxes fall apart and also get saturated in oil,or they just plainly don’t run properly. Disposable junk. If I was buying one,it would be a Honda for sure.

I’ve got a dual fuel champion 2500 that is pushing 1000hrs of run time. The machine might be 5db louder than a Honda, but it came propane ready, no aftermarket warranty voiding kit needed! And it still starts on the first pull (after a priming pull) every single time, 105F or -5F doesn’t matter at all. No regrets on this purchase and in fact I plan to buy the 4500 suitcase (exclusive to Home Depot) in the near future.
