God the surreal existential dread I just experienced from watching this video and in the middle of my viewing getting a news notification of another mass shooting that killed over a dozen people. It's moments like that that make me actually understand the inacation on this issue because how do people keep fighting for change through this absolutely paralyzing horror. I can almost sympathize with the people who'd watch this movie because obviously it's easier to watch an action fantasy where anyone can be a hero rather than confront the issue head on and let go of that imaginary world they'd rather live in.
Also they actually killed a deer, and thus cannot state in their credits the most normal of phrases "No animals were hurt during the filming of this movie."
The fact that they made the main character a woman with a black love interest to avoid accusations of sexism and racism all while bitching about "woke" Hollywood is so funny to me, this movie is ideologically indistinguishable from most action movies but Daily Wire viewers need to feel counter culture I guess
4:41 "we are making stuff that aren't trying to brainwash you" 10 seconds later "we need to make moderates more conservative" um, but ben isn't that...
Cassie Bernall’s story is heartbreaking. Her parents emotionally abused her for having friends that were gothic to the point that she had severe depression. She changed everything about her just to gain their affection, died in a pointless shooting by a psychopath, and now her death is being used as propaganda to force more children into a religion that ruined her short life. She is a victim turn martyr for a cause that did nothing but hurt her.
The joke at the end of the video is extra-funny two years later because Ben Shapiro's video about Barbie was so cringe-worthy that some conservatives online accused him of being paid by "the Left" to make conservatives look bad
There’s such a weird tonal dissonance with the ‘serious’ framing of a movie about a girl running around the school fighting mini bosses like it’s a video game
4:01 I love that. Ben Shapiro accusing others of only judging movies based on their politics. He only judges other movies based on their politics, constantly decrying holywood as being "woke", whatever he thinks that means
7:39 "my enemies are on Twitter attacking me 24/7" dude. dude. that's the terrible threat you're facing? TWITTER? at your big age? uninstall the app if its that bad bro. it is not that deep.
I get the impression that the film language these people were trying to draw upon by showing the protagonist being able to coldly kill the shooters is a transposed “final girl” archetype. But, like you said, they treat a child like a soldier, not a child.
As a flight attendant no one ever remembers me unless they have perceived me as rude. No matter how far and beyond I go - people only ever comment when things go wrong. Thank you for making me feel seen.
In this movie's defense, "cops are fucking useless against one dumbass kid with a gun who stand outside with their thumbs up their butts while the other kids are left to fend for themselves" is pretty damn accurate to real life
Ben Shapiro: "We're trying to make edgy and entertaining films that aren't trying to brainwash you every step of the way." *two seconds later "We can't win the culture war, if we're not competing for the people we are attempting to reach."
Nice one, Ben. You maybe want to go back and do a second draft so you're a little less transparent? "Oh yeah we're not trying to brainwash you, we're just trying to get people to believe what we want them to believe."
"We're so sick of movies with all these politics in them..." "Btw, our entire goal is to convince people to be Conservative through our movies... I see nothing wrong when we do it at all."
