fun fact: every time we heard a typewriter sound in the movie it’s briony writing her book and not what actually happen, it’s a little hint that what we are seeing is not the reality but what briony created in her mind.

That emerald green dress, forever iconic

joe wright is the director of Atonement and he ALSO directed Pride & Prejudice, that's why you recognized the mr. darcy hand flex moment + all the yearning lol

The scene of Cecilia's death is based on a real event. During bombing raids on London, people hid in the underground stations.  A bomb caused water from the River Thames to crash through one of these stations and many people drowned. So sad.

I remember watching this for the first time and just sobbing at the reveal, I don't think I can ever sit down and watch this movie again.

You know Saoirse gave a great performance because years have passed and her character here still PMO 😂

This movie pissed me off so much, I can’t believe I’m watching it again with you guys.

The scene where Robbie sees the dead bodies of young girls killed unnecessarily in the forest and it cuts to a young Briony deliberately jumping in the lake shows the juxtaposition of life, how spoiled she is to waste her life just to get saved by her crush. And here are so many innocent girls dead and abandoned because of a war that they had no part in.

Briony was jealous of Cecelia and she punished Robbie for it.

Also this movie showed the best Dunkirk visuals, even better than the Nolan version.

Devastating movie.
Goated Cast though.

Keira Knightly historical movies hit different. If you guys haven’t yet, you gotta watch her in Anna Karenina!!

The ending is a gut punch. The meaning of the same hair style was because she never could get over her lie. That's how I saw it anyway

That ending scene will forever be a kick in the guts.

Yearning is extremely back !

I fell in love with James McAvoy watching this movie❤❤❤

Watched this at 12 yrs old and never again, this movie brought so much ache in my heart I couldn’t cope .  Like the anger and anxiety to want a happy ending for everyone ,let alone Robbie and Cecilia , was unbearable to witness more than once.

In the first few scenes of this movie the director stretched Dior stockings over the lens to shoot and give it that romantic hazy effect! One of my absolute FAVORITE beautifully shot movies! And that GREEN dress and the SUNLIGHT shot (completely coincidental and lucky btw)👆🏽😙 such a stunning film.

this movie actually messed me up when i watched it. I was like in 7th grade and i went up to my mom absolutely sobbing. I dont know why i didnt think a movie could be lying to me. Like i was not expecting the ending to just be not the truth, i guess i felt betrayed lol. Such a good and heartbreaking movie though

Before this movie I never thought I could hate one of saoirse's characters but briony was something else she really infuriated me. Even when it doesn't have a happy ending I absolute love this one 😢

The soldiers are on the beach at Dunkirk, a desperate retreat of British and French soldiers from the (temporarily) victorious German Army. Many died but many were rescued by ordinary civilian fishing boats that sailed from England to collect them.

The book this movie is based on is INCREDIBLE. It dives deep into the psychology of Briony, her motivations, her growth as a character. This film is good, but it's just 10% of the depth of the characters from the book.
