Fallout’s Body Horror Is Worse Than Death

Today we wanted to cover the many ways the human body gets warped in the Fallout Universe. In the case of Joshua Graham, Caesar torched him and scarred his entire body. In cases like ghoul feralization or like the Lost as seen in Appalachia, a person loses all identity and transforms into something completely different. But these are just the tips of the iceberg. From The Master in Fallout 1, to the Institute's Super Mutant pet project, and even facial reconstruction in Fallout 4's Diamond City, we might all be surprised as to what the human body has had to endure throughout Fallout 1, Fallout 2, Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 4, and Fallout 76.

Fallout Lore is covered in the video.

I just want to add for the burning man point, I burned both of my legs ankle to knee, right after highschool. I was unconscious for about 18 hours and my mind literally blanked out them cleaning my burns. I had to go back to the hospital every week for like 2 months because of how much it was, and they scrubbed the dead skin, puss, and everything else away with what were basically brillo pads, no anesthesia or anything.

I've had broken bones, been shot and stabbed, I remember all that. My mind will not let me remember my burned legs being cleaned.

A good example of body horror would be the abominations from the zeta dlc. The zetas would abduct humans and forcibly genetically modify them into a alien/human hybrid. That would be one of the worst experiences to go through, not only would you lose your mind but you would feel every bit of pain from the Operation too.

Fun fact you can get a fungus ball growth in the lungs called aspergilloma.

I remember first time in Oasis, looking around the garden, thinking, "This is nice but I don't really see much of a poin to---HOLY SHIT, WHAT IS THAT???"

I'd love to see Dead Space like survival horror in Fallout universe in some FEV lab

you aren't treated with antibodies if you have pneumonia.. It can be an infection of bacteria, viruses or fungi and are usually treated with antibiotics. So at most, the infection could fight and destroy your own anti-bodies, but not that of any medication

Body horror idea: Instead of these nests, Cazadores lay theur eggs like the Tarantula Hawk Wasps they are based on

Imagine if Bethesda added "long term effects" and eventually your choices might have unexpected permadeath

I feel like Vault 22 is one of the tragic vaults. It was meant to succeed, then the Big MT chose it as another testing ground. Simply because of the question, “Why not?”

And thus the people inside ended up puppets of a lab grown mistake when they could have vegetated the wastes

I think the worst body horror mutation is actually Herald. I know it's portrait as a good thing to keep him alive but seriously. That man goes through a mutation like the master but plant based... So vegan male poison Ivy in horror mode.
Think about it he knew that the Lone Wanderer was coming and has the ability to sense things through the roots and other plants. But atil that part of the tree that moves your organ's around like a tumor it can't place. Imagine one of the Mirelurks underneath your feet could pierce your heart in an instant because it's mirelurks they get triggered by motions as far as we can make it out. Unable to move, or do something against it in a world where his only mental stimulation is people who don't listen and a little child... A child that you can't pick up if it falls down, you can't dry it's tears because your fingers don't exist as fingers anymore. Herald might be the best hope for a new green planet in Fallout but so are the spore carriers from Vault 22.

And what about Herald's Humanoid Body functions does he still feel hunger? Pain for a dislocated shoulder? Or does he feel thirsty like we do?

(I know trees are not really plants because they are far more weird than plants and I know the vegan part was inaccurate too, I'm vegan myself. But in comparison to the master that absorbed meats in all ways and computers...).

I mean, certainly you would not wish the Masters Fate on your worst Enemy, given that the Master grew more Powerful and only his own Sense of Ethics made him stop. Your worst Enemy may not.

The skeleton in a spacesuit, reminded me of a damn good Doctor Who episode, during the 10th. Doctor's Era!

If Richard Grey had continued expanding and consuming I feel like he would have ended up like Oliensis in the Warhammer 40k universe. Also, I wonder if he would have been able to absorb all biomass like plants and fungi as well?

I commented about Tarantula Hawk Wasps earlier, but now at the end of the video I remember that Bloatflies are kinda doing that body horror thing. I mean, it sounds pretty horrific to have a fly shoot their larvae at you that then burrow into your body, only to emerge like a chestburster.
