Zenless’s biggest flaw is simply how it presented itself in season 1. Stuff ppl complain about are just things we thought the game would stick to, the urban aesthetic no crazy magic powers characters designs not just ripping the characters clothes off and of course the male characters. If the game was just like this from the start nobody would complain

What I absolutely hate is that all the male characters are just right before the Void Hunter banner. I mean, yeah, no shit they're not selling well

ever since Phainon dropped in Starrail there is legit no ground left on the "men dont sell" hill

If they dont sell its because the dev doenst want them to

What’s crazy is hoyo KNOWS men can sell- the recent varka and flins banner, an ALL MALE roster, was the second best selling banner of 6.x behind COLUMBINA. That’s insane. Phainon also had incredible sales. They can make money.

I totally agree.
If the devs want to make a waifu game then it's fine but what's messed up is when they advertise themselves initially with a mixed cast and then just abandon the fans of male characters once they've reeled them into playing.
It feels manipulative.

I'm still mad about Pompey to this day.

I decided to give a chance to ZZZ literally because of Lycaon. What a fool I was to believe this game would keep a good amount of male character releases... :face-orange-biting-nails:

The first sentence is probably the most important one of the video. Nobody forced Hoyo to make a mixed gender gacha game. As far as I know, all of their games before genshin were exclusively waifu gacha, nobody expected them to suddenly cater to other audiences.

But if they are going to market their games to husbando enjoyers then I'm going to demand to be catered too. Like it kills me when some waifu collectors complain about us being here  spoiling the fun.

Dude, Hoyo clearly wants me here spending my money too, they make that clear in the marketing, why would I not complain when they are clearly stringing me along?

I have no dog in this fight, but it's insane to me that Haramusa hasn't had a single rerun 😭

No male characters and 70% feel like actual airheads unless the plot needs them with that classic "she Is actually really smart guys" 😅 I really miss that pre-vivian ZZZ

I don't understand the thinking of women selling more then men because they're "hotter". Bro... Leon Kennedy. It's not hard to make a hot cool guy.

My boy Anton gets no love nowadays he carried my account in those beginning 1.0 days.

"Where are the men?!" - me, every morning.

The fact that Season 2 had only 1 S Rank male throughout its whole run is actually baffling to me.

I’ll never forget how feral some got with looking at Lycaon.

Still waiting for a male void hunter......... Any day now.........

My problem with Zenless isn't how they don't release equivalent male and female characters, because any other gacha game you can think of has a big preference for female characters over male ones.

My problem with Zenless is how obvious it's become that issue, they don't want to release male characters. Because every time they have the opportunity, they don't do it.
Pompey? Kill him.
Big Daddy is the leader of the Sons of Calidon? Make him a side character.
Shiyuan was in the game since version 2.0? Make him an NPC, but make his sister a VH.
Manato who has been relevant to the story since version 2.0? Make him an A-rank character and give the S-rank characters to two girls who were only mentioned in one event dialogue.
Severian who was tessed in from the beginning of the game and appeared in the 2.7 livestream? Make him an NPC. But make his subordinate an S-rank character next patch.

Not to mention how Damian was erased from the 2.0 story.
Mors and Bellum resigned to being just mini-bosses while Pulchra became a playable character.
And how Romuel was written to be an irredeemable villain while Promeia, even though she's from the same gang of ruthless killers, will be justified to make her playable.

And on top of all that, there's the Banner issue. All the new male characters are released before a VH, cutting off their sales opportunities, hype and in BanYue's case even their banner days.
Their reruns? They've never happened outside of that same condition, a male agent has never returned when there's no other male character in the same patch. One of the main reasons why Harumasa has never had a rerun.

I simply don't understand why they keep do that. People will always parrot the agenda about how male characters don't sell.
But Genshin was successful with Varka and HSR was successful with Phainon.

Meanwhile, Zenless already has four female characters with low sales (Seed, Orphie, Yidhari, and Dialyn).

I personally will continue playing Zenless. It's a fun game with (mostly) perfect male and female characters. The landscapes, music, and animation are beautiful.

I would never have touched a Hoyoverse game, but Zenless was the exception from the moment I saw the characters with such diverse and cool designs in the first trailers.
Now I have thousands of hours in the game, enjoying all the game modes, events and Agent stories. And Hoyo even managed to convince me to spend money on BanYue. What?! A muscular, part-lion robot, incredibly fun gameplay and design with emotional and inspiring story? M6W5 on day one.
That character is simply everything I love about this game.

And yet people will still call me a Tourist for defending and asking for more Male characters...

Amazing community. 👏

It’s a two fold problem with the “males don’t sell” argument. Like you said, putting them just before a void hunter every time inherently hurts the character. Also, because of how sparse the male characters are, there is PLENTY of time to save. Lighter, Hugo, and even Banyue, I had around 200+ pulls for them since i prioritized the male units and their w engines.

Vietnam flashbacks from when I made a whole post pointing out almost every way ZZZ just keeps on screwing male characters over back when the Manato incident

I like that you couldn't think of a flaw for Yinhu so you just said "Panda".

He's a very good unit, and would also make the best husband so like he's essentially perfect.
