i'll never get hating on people for enjoying something that's popular. usually, things are popular because they're good, or enjoyable, or fun. and people like to tell other people about good things, so that they can also enjoy them. that's not performative, that's human nature. that is how things become popular.

What's so funny about this to me is that at one point or another, everyone is a poser when it comes to something. No one goes into a hobby or interest as a seasoned veteran or expert, so you are quite literally posing as somebody who is so you don't look like a fool in front of those that are. I think everyone's done that at one point or another, which means that no one has any room to judge anybody else for doing it. I think everyone should just let people enjoy things, and mind their own beeswax! Especially if they are minding actual beeswax because we need more bees!🐝🐝🐝

As someone who's involved in my local punk scene, unfortunately there's a lot of "cool guy" shit going on. Bands turning down other bands because they're not their friends in their clique, and things like that. It might not necessarily be for likes, but it's seen locally as "cool" and they don't want to tamper with their image. I feel like no matter what scale it's at, there will always be an aspect of performatism.
